ABOUT US
Introducing The Great House, an award
winning, intimate country wedding venue,
tucked away in the picturesque village of
Sonning.
Located on The Thames, in the heart of the
Berkshire countryside, The Great House
offers a sweeping setting, with manicured
lawns leading down to the river. It provides a
beautiful location and delicious food - whilst
everything else is yours to design - just how
you have always dreamed of.
Offering an accessible location, The Great
House is only an hour from London, 10
minutes from Reading, and within an easy
reach of the M4.
THE CEREMONY
If you’re looking for a blend of historic,
country charm with luxurious contemporary
styling, all set against a breath-taking
backdrop, then look no further than
The Great House at Sonning
Licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 120
guests, overlooking the hotel gardens and
riverside setting, it is an ideal spot for the
most magical moment of your day.
For a local church wedding, we have
St Andrew’s church on our doorstep,
alongside several beautiful churches in the
villages nearby.
THE CELEBRATION
Surrounded by its own private terrace
overlooking the river, The Private
Dining room is a beautiful space
filled with natural light. It can host a
wedding breakfast for 120 guests and
an evening reception for up to 200,
however the room is adaptable for a
more intimate celebration as well.
We also have the option of offering
our guests additional private rooms,
which can host from 10 to 120 people.
These rooms make a perfect spot for
pre-wedding family gatherings, or for a
morning after breakfast.
THE WEDDING BREAKFAST
Our Coppa Club chefs have created a collection of menus
for you to choose from for your Wedding Breakfast.
Offering a fresh, modern approach, our menus ensure
that both you and your guests enjoy the perfect
celebration meal.
A complimentary tasting will be included in your
wedding package

THE EVENING PARTY
Our large, flexible space allows there to
be plenty of room for up to 200 guests
for your evening celebrations. This
means that the whole family, from the
children to the grandparents, can bring
out their dance moves!
Whether you wish to relax by the bar
or sit outside in front of the beautiful
riverside settings, everyone can feel
involved in the evening celebrations.

Here at The Great House, you can
arrive your way!
Sail up to the hotel, arrive by
car or take a stroll in from your
bedroom after spending the night
here. However you wish to arrive,
share your ideas and we’ll make
them a reality.

THE BEDROOMS
Our bedrooms offer light, restful spaces
where every detail has been considered. From
comfortable beds, to the deep luxurious baths
or the wake-me-up rain showers.
Each room has been thoughtfully designed
to provide the ideal place for pre-wedding
preparation alongside the perfect setting for
the newlyweds.
Stay for the night of your wedding and
continue your celebrations into the next day
as a Deluxe Room is included within your
wedding package. Your guests will
also receive a special rate as part of the
wedding package, should they wish to stay
