They are Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. I follow these in my classroom very closely. I have bees on my white board that say BEE RESPECTFUL, BEE RESPONSIBLE, and BEE SAFE that will be given to students at their tables if they need an extra reminder. We will go over in class what it looks and sounds like to be respectful, responsible, and safe. Good Job Tickets Students who are showing the three b’s will earn good job tickets. They will be write their name on their ticket and put it in our jar. I will draw tickets throughout the week and they will get to visit my treasure box. Table Points Tables will earn points throughout the week for showing the three b’s. At the end of the week, the table with the most points will decide on their prize (treasure box, bring in a stuffed animal, show and tell, eat lunch with Mrs. Calderon, etc.) 10-Star Reward In addition to good job tickets and table points, the class can earn stars by receiving compliments by other teachers and staff – during specials, walking correctly in the halls, etc. When the class reaches 10 stars the class will earn a special reward – game day, movie day, pajama day, etc.
Communication
Communication is key to having a successful school year.
I will be sending home a weekly newsletter letting you
know what your child is working on in school and activities
that you can practice at home. Please check your child’s
communication folder daily and return it to school. This is
a huge way that I communicate with you what is going on
in the classroom. I will also send emails reminding of
important dates/events/etc. Please do not hesitate to
contact me with any questions.Homework
Reading with your child for 20 minutes each day is an
important step in creating fluent readers and a love of
reading and books. In addition to reading, I will also be
sending home a homework choice menu beginning the
second or third week of school. I do not want your child
to become overwhelmed or stressed about homework. It
is meant to practice what they have been learning in
school. You will not return the homework, but will sign off
that they have completed the activities.Volunteer Information
There will be volunteer opportunities throughout
the school year. In order to volunteer in the
classroom or attend field trips, you must
complete the volunteer application, online
training, and submit it along with a copy of your
driver’s license to the school office. For
additional volunteer information,visit

Positive praise is proven to improve student
achievement in school. Each month I will send home
a special paper for you to write a note to your
child. It can praise achievements they have
accomplished both in and outside of school. We will
then read it aloud in class and display it on our
parent praise board. You can also read
