Navratri
Navaratri in 2018 will started Tuesday, the 9th of October
(9/10/2018) and will continue until Wednesday, the 17th of
October. Navratri is a major Hindu festival in India. It is a
nine nights (and ten days) Hindu festival. The dates of the
festival are decided according to the lunar calendar, but it is
celebrated primarily in March-April as Vasanta Navratri and
in the months of September-October as Sharana Navratri.
According to some Hindu texts such as the Shakta and
Vaishnava Puranas, Navaratri theoretically falls twice or four
times a year.
Meghan and Harry: Duchess of Sussex expecting a
baby
The announcement came as Meghan and Prince Harry arrived in
Sydney on Monday ahead of a 16-day tour of Australia and New
Zealand. Kensington Palace said the couple, who got married in
Windsor five months ago, were "delighted to be able to share this
happy news with the public". Their baby will be seventh in line to the
throne. That speculation intensified when she was seen clutching two
large folders in front of her stomach as she arrived in Sydney for the
tour, which will also take in Fiji and Tonga. It is their first official
royal tour since their wedding, which also took place at St George's
Chapel, Windsor. Their first engagement was on Tuesday, when
crowds of well-wishers are expected to congratulate the couple. The
duke and duchess follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry's parents -
Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales - whose first royal tour
was to Australia and New Zealand.

local community have put together a group called Prabashi,
a few years ago, and every year they perform various
different arts like dancing, singing and playing
instruments. Afterwards, they pray to Durga Maa and
serve delicious food. The function will take place this week
at a place next to Asha Restuarant and starts at around
7:00pm until you want to leave. We hope you come and see
the performances and puja (prayers) with your parents!

Digital Leaders
Yesterday, in assembly, Mr. Short announced the
Year 5 digital leaders. They will take part in fun
activities using the school's equipment. These
activities may include building Lego figures and then
making them move. The six digital leaders were chosen
at an interview and it was a tough decision since all
the applicants gave their best. They will be trained by
the Year 6 Digital Leaders who will help them and
ensure that they know what to do. We wish them luck
and hope they do well in this
Stonge Age Workshop
Last week, the Year 3s had a Stonge Age workshop
and learnt more about the Stonge Age and extended
their knowledge. They got to dress up as a person
living in the Stone Age from home. The people who
came to teach them were experts on history and they
brought weapons, and other artefacts like cow bone.
Anusha, from Topaz, said "I really enjoyed the
workshop and I learnt some more facts. I even got to
hold a cow bone!" We are proud that they have learnt a
lot.
