Updated CDC Guidance for Vaccinated
Individuals 5/16/21
• https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-
vaccinated.html
• Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a
mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal,
state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including
local business and workplace guidance.
• CDC recommends schools continue to use the COVID-19
prevention strategies outlined in the current version of CDC’s
Operational Strategy for K-12 Schools for at least the remainder of
the 2020-2021 academic school year.
15Seminole County
Public Schools www.scps.us
Face Coverings/Masks
• Decision Point: When will face masks be recommended in
schools?
• Recommendation:
• Guidance was consistent that vaccinated individuals should not
have to mask and that vaccines are highly effective at protecting
from illness.
• Strongly encourage that unvaccinated individuals continue all
protective measures available, including masking.
• Recognize that everyone will need to make determinations for
their own unique situation and should create atmosphere of
respect for all.
16Seminole County
Public Schools www.scps.us
Face Coverings/Masks (cont.)
• Some staff members may be required to wear personal protective
equipment (PPE) when working with symptomatic students/staff or
with medically fragile student populations that are not yet eligible
for vaccination.
• Some students or staff may have unique accommodation needs
• Staff can work with ADA Coordinator for these individual
requests.
• Students and their families can work with Section 504 and IEP
teams, with involvement of School Board Nurse, for
individualized accommodation needs.

Public Schools www.scps.us
Social Distancing
Social Distancing in classroom and campus educational settings is one

• The reopening team recognizes the positive educational
impact of collaborative, project-based learning.
