For up-to-date information on Love Your Block, like our Facebook page @LoveYourBlockHartfordSample Love Your Block Projects:
Neighborhood clean-ups, vacant lot revitalization, community gardens, removing graffiti and litter, art
installations, and tree/flower planting. This is not an exhaustive list; applicants are invited to propose other
creative ideas and can refer to the our Year One Projects page and lookbook here
(https://tinyurl.com/YearOneProjects)
Applicants can also opt to join the ‘Adopt-a-Block’ program, the project can be either centered around this
or extend into this following project completion. Adopt-a-Block is a new initiative backed by the City of
Hartford wherein residents and/or local organizations can choose to ‘adopt’ a street or part of a street of
their choosing in their neighborhood. By doing so, the group agrees to take the lead in keeping this area
clean through, at minimum, four volunteer-led clean-ups per year. Only complete these forms and send
with your application if your project is centered around this initiative. If your proposal does not center
around adopting a block in your neighborhood but you are still interested, then these forms can be filled
and submitted later.
Funds May Not Be Used For:
Administration of mini-grant, rent or utilities, speaker fees, computer equipment, scholarships or other
direct support to individuals or families, improvement projects that primarily serve churches and/or other
religious organizations and not the overall community, and items or services for personal use.
