Important Member Information

CBC Updates on Safe Re-Opening Phase 2
With Singapore’s Safe Re-Opening currently at Phase 2, the church
office is now open during office hours (9.00am – 5.00pm, Mondays
to Fridays).

During Phase 2,
- Admin staff will be rostered to man the church office, while non-
    rostered admin, pastoral and ministry staff will continue to work
    from home.
- All visitors to the church office are by appointments-only.
- Please contact the church office to make bookings for use of
    church facilities; of no more than 5 persons.
- Church services and other activities will continue online.

Sunday worship services, all ministries & ‘meetings’ are

Our English, Mandarin and Hokkien services will be uploaded by
8.00am Sunday on our website

worship at your regular worship timing of 8.45am or 11.15am.

Introducing Our Guest Speaker
Dr Ko Soo Meng is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist in private
practice. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the
Department of Psychological Medicine, National University of
Singapore and Adjunct Lecturer with the School of Counselling,
Singapore Bible College. He is married to Helen and they have
four children Moses, Noel, Judith and Matthias. They worship at
Bartley Christian Church.

Talk on “Caring for One Another Emotionally”
In line with this month’s focus on Family Life, brother
Peter Lim will be sharing (via Zoom) how we all can
care for each other emotionally on Saturday 26
September, 2.30 - 4.00pm. Please email Ps John

             A gathering together for all women, to love God and to love

             WrW is meeting via Zoom on Saturday 19 September,
2.30 - 4.00pm.

Baptism and Membership Transfer
Our next Baptism Service will be held on Sunday, 20 September
at 4pm. The 4 baptism candidates are the Lim Family: Brian Lim,
Jocelyn Lim, Zaccheus Lim & Zoie Lim.

There will be another baptism scheduled for Sunday, 20
December. All interested are invited to join our Foundations F104
zoom classes to be held on Sundays, 11, 18 & 25 October & 1
November, 1.30pm. Please register with Siew Yuet by emailing
her at sywong@calvary.org.sg.

September Family Business Meeting (FBM)
FBM will be held on Sunday 20 September at 12.30pm (via
Zoom).

September Prayer & Praise
Prayer and Praise will be held on Thursday 24 September @
8.00pm (via Zoom). The meeting link will be sent out via the
church broadcast channels (email, WhatsApp and Telegram)
nearer to date.

Title: The Depressed Saint                       Text: 1 Kings 19:1-18

Summary Statement: Depression is an emotion and experience that we can benefit from,
rather than wasted.

Introduction:
      Depression affects more than 350 million people worldwide (WHO)
      Response to Depression: Fight or Flight

Causes of Elijah’s Depression:
    i. Fear (1 Kings 19:3)          – Negative views of the present and future

    ii. Failure (1 Kings 19:4)      – Negative of self

    iii. Fatigue (1 Kings 19:5)

    iv. Futility: (1 kings 19:10)   – Negative view of the future.

Cognitive Triad of Depression:
      Negative view of self: vs 4b

      Negative of the world, vs 10a
Negative view of the future: Vs 10b

Management:
      Physical/Biological (vs 6-8)

      Spiritual (vs 9 -13)

      Psychological (vs 10-14,19)
          -   Catharsis – Let in out!

          -   Cognitions: Check your thoughts – Focus on facts and not only feelings.

          -   Compare not with others

      Social (vs 15-18)

Conclusion: (Isaiah 43:1-3a)
