Club History
The origins of the football club go back to 1947 when it was first established. Five foundation members at the time
were seen as critical to getting the club up and running, these members were Leo Sullivan, Karl Gallagher, Keith
Wilcoxin, Cliff Williamson and W Prigg. At this stage of the clubs history it had 175 junior players linked to it
across many junior clubs including Hammondville, Regents Park, Cabramatta, Fairfield, Bankstown, Mt Pritchard,
Villawood, Green Valley and Holsworthy Warwick Farm. Leo Sullivan a former VFL player with Richmond had
worked tirelessly to see the formation of the senior club. Karl Gallagher was instrumental in forming and organising
the large junior network. Gallagher and Sullivan first recruited converts to Australian Football, through a procession
through the streets of Liverpool using a large sign on his delivery truck. This vehicle played a greater role in the early
years as it was used to transport players to away games.
The Sullivan family holds a unique place in the history at the club as the only family to have had three generations of
players represent it. Keith Wilcoxin’s family still has involvement at Rosedale with his grandson playing first grade
cricket with the Fairfield Liverpool Lions.
The clubs first colours were believed to have been black and white and this is supported in documentation on the early
history of the club however of the years it has seen a number of changes in the colours and has worn Black and Gold,
Blue and White and Blue Black and White as well as the current Black, White and Gold strip.
1949 the club won its first premiership defeating Rosebery in what was then the Districts competition before in was
admitted into the Sydney AFL in 1951.
The clubs original home ground was the Liverpool Showgrounds however a sale of the land forced the club to look
elsewhere and the club was granted flat scrubland at Warwick Farm for their new oval. Leo Sullivan at this time
was an Alderman on the Liverpool Council. This land was flat however covered in tea trees and a working
committee was formed which saw the tea tees gradually removed and the ground cleared. As a result of this
voluntary work Rosedale Oval was developed and was set aside with Australian Rules Football to be the only sport
played upon it.
1959 saw the club win Sydney AFL’s first “Lightning Premiership”.
In 1963 a combined Liverpool/Bankstown team won the Sydney AFL Under 19’s Premiership. This is the clubs
first premiership since admission into the Sydney AFL.
In 1964 with football flourishing in the area Parramatta Liverpool and Bankstown combined and formed Southern
Districts however the next ten years are said to be among the most turbulent in the clubs history. A new club room
at Rosedale that was a combined effort of volunteers and the council was opened.
In 1965 Southern Districts win the reserve grade Premiership. The competitions equivalent in 2012 is Division1.
1972 saw Bankstown AFC reform and split with Southern Districts who continue to play under the same name.
1981 Southern Districts AFC revert back to Liverpool AFC

Game Face
On match days, get the basics right. Don’t forget your boots, socks, shorts and mouthguard.
Present yourself in the right condition to play your best footy. Players who show up not ready to play do nothing
more than display a lack of commitment to their own game and a lack of respect for both the Club and their team
mates.
We advise all players to bring two pairs of socks, shorts and towels as well as boots suitable for dry and wet
conditions. Playing in Sydney though it is advisable to wear moulded boots ahead of screw in’s.
Everyone has their own pre game ritual however remember to respect those of your teammates.

many higher accolades offered to volunteers on game day. This position commands a high level of respect from those
requesting assistance. Enjoy the experience.

will provide flags and any necessary training required on game day.

Scoreboard – George Krejza is responsible for maintaining our scoreboard at all home games. Everyone at the club is
welcome to spend time with George and cheer appropriately from the board.

The Mounties Group is dedicated to making it memorable for members and guests. Through the Group’s seven
registered clubs, two health club and holiday resorts, we offer a range of entertainment, leisure and lifestyle options
while supporting our communities and helping them grow!
History
Mt Pritchard & District Community Club has come a long way since 1968 when two humble government huts were
hauled by road from Herne Bay (now known as Riverwood) and anchored on 1.2 hectares of land in Meadows Road,
Mt Pritchard.
Several men enjoying a beer in a hotel in Cabramatta had the idea to build a workers-style club that supported the
social and sporting needs of the community.
47 years ago, Green Valley had not been released for housing commission development and Mt Pritchard was neither
bush nor suburb. The State Government offered homes to those who, “could come up with a hundred quid” (around
$200). Suddenly there was a surge of young families to Mt Pritchard from Sydney's inner west.
As the population of Mt Pritchard grew so too did the call for more leisure and sporting activities and thus, the need
for more venues and meeting places. The first sporting clubs of the area were rugby league and cricket, both formed
in 1927. Among the members of the cricket team were two of the White brothers – Mortimer (Mitta) and Joe,
brothers of Terry and Cecil who became Mt Pritchard & District Community Club’s first president and inaugural
committee member respectively.
Of course for the men who liked a drink after work, the nearest hotel was at Cabramatta. The problem was that most
women preferred not to go there and there was nothing to keep children entertained. What was needed was a social
focal point for the developing Mt Pritchard community. The newcomers, together with the established residents of
Mt Pritchard, decided to do something about it.
The concept was born during a series of meetings conducted in the homes of interested parties. Once the idea took
hold, interest soon increased. Debentures were struck and £300 (around $600) was raised toward the establishment of
the Club.Moorebank Magpies Australian Football Club Inc.

The dream became a reality when local resident, the late Tom McAuliffe, offered a block of land in Meadows Road
in exchange for debentures in the club. The funds raised by the debentures paid for the two ex-government huts that
became the original club house.
Despite the obvious need for a district community club felt by most local residents, there was a strong opposition
from local hotels, sporting clubs and the authorities. An application for a club named ‘Mt Pritchard Workers Club
Limited’ was rejected!
Finally in May 1964, the Mt Pritchard & District Community Club was incorporated. However, another four years
passed before the courts granted the Club a liquor license.
Looking at the Club today, the area that it commands and the millions of dollars of support it provides to the
community and 30 plus Sub Clubs, it is difficult to imagine its humble beginnings in the early 60's.
A vision was turned into a reality that every member of Mt Pritchard & District Community Club can be immensely
proud of.

Express Direct Services in its current form was founded in 1986 through the merger of three smaller logistics
companies. Family owned and operated, the company's origins begin with the founder purchasing his first delivery
truck after the culmination of World War II.
The company's operations now span three generations, and provide supply chain services Australia-wide through our
own network, and through our partner networks.
Our focus is on providing bespoke logistics services with minimal overhead. We bring generations of experience and
a passion for efficiency together with a personable service that is about making our customers receive a high return
on investment. We want to provide you with a level of service to your business and your customers that you could
not provide on your own at minimal cost.
EDS offer their supply chain services to many top companies across a broad range of industries which include
Mining and Chemicals, Building Materials, Food, Bulk Retail, Electrical equipment, Reverse Logistic Solution and
more.
Our head office is located in New South Wales, in the outer south-western suburbs of Sydney.
Conveniently located to the Westlink M7 and South Western Motorway interchange, this location offers
easy access to our interstate depots.
With locations throughout Australia we are able to offer logistics solutions across all country locations.
