note.

Central Virginia Fashion Week is a uniquely-
presented fashion experience that works to
bring the big city experience to our local
communities by engaging the area's top
fashion designers, influencers and
enthusiasts.
With curated times to network with other
professionals in the fashion, beauty, and
entertainment industries, a strong sense of
community is developed enriching the overall
experience and creating an intrinsic impact on
arts and culture in our area like never before.
Our attendees to the week's events leave

Central Virginia Fashion Week ("CVAFW"), presented by Let's Talk Fashion
Virginia, will hold it's second year of uniquely-presented fashion experiences
again in the Fall of 2018. The event will continue with its mission to engage,
network, and present the areas top fashion designers, influencers and
enthusiasts within the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries.
In the first year of 2017, CVAFW attracted over 300 attendees throughout the
week of September 11-16, 2017 to locally-owned retail storefronts, a theatrical
center, and a prestigious hotel in the downtown Lynchburg area with exclusive
in-store fashion events, a lifestyle fashion show, and an elaborate haute-
couture fashion show. We presented seven (7) local designers with origins from
the Greater Lynchburg region.
The average age range of attendees to these events were between 18-45 years
of age. The representation of attendees present was 68% to 32%, respectively
representing those of Black/Hispanic/Other Descent and those of Caucasian
Descent. The ratio of Male to Female attendance was observed as 1:4
respectively.
This event could be described as the conversation of the city, receiving media
coverage from The News & Advance, WSLS 10 News, WDBJ7, ABC13-LHOV, and
local college newspapers. We anticipate much growth for this event in 2018!
The character of Central Virginia Fashion Week ("CVAFW") 2018 is avant-
garde. To fully grasp this concept, we take a page from the book

Avant-garde (pronounced a’vant-garde) is an intellectual, artistic
and cultural movement characterized by the experimental, the
radical and the unorthodox approaches. Derived from french and
meaning vanguard or advance guard, the term describes the few
who dare to go in front and defy conventions.
What makes something avant-garde is its capacity to transcend
the boundaries of convention through experimentation and
propose a different way of doing things, whether in art, dance,
fashion, or any other of the creative arts. The term 'avant-garde' is
typically used to describe innovative movements or the people
creating them, who are considered to be ahead of their time.
With this, Central Virginia Fashion Week 2018 will take place again in the fall of
this year, beginning Thursday, October 25, 2018 and ending Saturday, October
27, 2018. This series of events will be held at River Ridge Lynchburg located at
3405 Candlers Mountain Road, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.
