Wednesday, February 21 – Wolfhart Haus Dinner Theatre “Smoke on the Mountain”
Location: Wytheville, Va
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 10:15am
Cost: $60.00
Details: It’s Saturday night in Mount Pleasant, NC & Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the
Sanders family to provide an uplifting evening of singin’ and witnessin’. The audience is invited
to pull up a pew & join the congregation for a rollicking good time. More than two dozen gospel
songs & hilarious stories from each of the Sanders family members provide a richly entertaining
evening that is sure to be remembered!
Wednesday, March 28th – Barter Theater “Bright Star”
Location: Abingdon, Va
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 9:30am
Cost: $50.00
Details: Inspired by a real event, this bluegrass musical tells a sweeping tale of love and
redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ‘40s. Literary
editor Alice Murphy enters a relationship with a young soldier just home from World War II that
awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets
out on a journey to understand her past — and what she finds has the power to transform both
of their lives. Barter Theatre brings you the first production of this show in the United States
since its run on Broadway!!!

Details: Visit the Cheese Shop, Little Debbie Outlet Store and Shenandoah Heritage Market in
Harrisonburg/Stuarts Draft. Lunch will be at the Wood Grill Buffet and is included in the price.
Thursday, May 10th - Wolfhart Haus Dinner Theatre “Wizard of Oz”
Location: Wytheville, Va
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 10:15am

Details: Follow the Yellow Brick Road to WHDT to see the classic movie version of this beloved
tale brought to life. You’ll enjoy the antics of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion, and

Tuesday, May 22nd - Shatley Springs Buffet and Cheese Factory/Shop
Location: Crumpler, North Carolina
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 8:30am
Cost: $32.00 (includes lunch)
Details: Enjoy the famous country cooking, the famous spring water, and the beautiful
mountain scenery at Shatley Springs Inn. Families and tour groups alike find the country
atmosphere relaxing and reminiscent of times past. After eating a family style meal, many
guests visit the gift shops or take a walk around the lake. Others sit and rest a spell in the
rocking chairs on the porch. Come and see for yourself the best kept secret in northwestern
North Carolina. Afterwards we will visit the Cheese Factory and Cheese Shop just a few miles
away in Ashe County where you can watch cheese being made and peruse through their cheese
shop where you can purchase meats, cheeses, candies and other assorted items.
Monday June 4th – 8th – Amish Country/Philadelphia, Pa to include the Jesus Show
Location: Lancaster, Pa.
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center Monday at 8am
Cost: $535.00 for Double Occupancy/$685.00 for single occupancy
Details: Enjoy this 5 day/4 night trip to see the Amish Country. Price of the trip includes
motorcoach transportation, 4 nights lodging, 8 meals (4 breakfasts, 4 dinners), admission to the

inspirational music is presented by our fabulous musicians, as we rejoice in the many blessings

Saturday, August 11th – Galax Fiddler’s Convention
Location: Galax, Va
Time: Departs from Salem Senior Center at 11am
Cost: $10.00
Details: Enjoy a fun-filled bluegrass afternoon at the World’s Oldest and Largest Fiddler’s
Convention. Cost of the trip includes transportation only so meals will be on your own. Bring a
chair and sit back and relax and enjoy some fun, music and fellowship. Also feel free to bring
snacks for your enjoyment.
Wednesday, August 29th – Barter Theater “Ain’t Misbehavin”

Details: The joint is jumpin’ with the new Swing beat to the music of the inimitable Thomas
“Fats” Waller, who rose to international fame during the Golden Age of the Cotton Club. Ain’t
Misbehavin’ evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of this American original as a
versatile cast struts, strums and sings the songs of “Fats” Waller made famous in a career that
ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood, and concert stages in the

Details: Venture back in time to the Civil War Days as we visit the Historical site where Lee
surrendered to Grant and also visit the American Civil War Museum. Lunch will be on your own
at Granny Bee’s. Cost includes transportation and entrance to Civil War Museum.
Friday, September 7th – Frontier Culture Museum
Location: Staunton, Va
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 8am
Cost: $20.00
Details: The Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia tells the story of the thousands of people who
migrated to colonial America, and of the life they created here for themselves and their
descendants. This trip will include a lot of walking so be prepared. Guided walking tours are
available. We will stop for breakfast at the North Star Restaurant in Buchanan and possibly stop
at a “fast food” place for lunch if necessary. Cost of trip is for entrance to museum and
transportation. Meals will be on your own.
Sept 17th – 19th – Amtrak trip to Richmond

Friday, October 19th – Swinging Bridge/Cheese Shop
Location: Paint Bank, Va.
Time: Departs from Salem Senior Center at 10:15am
Cost: $12.00
Details: The Swinging Bridge restaurant is celebrating over 10 years of bringing you home-style
good cookin’ with a Southern gourmet flare. Their unique dining experience is well worth the
drive over the mountains and through the woods. The Swinging Bridge offers a cozy setting in
front of a raging fire (seasonal, of course!), with décor that reflects the beauty and splendor of
nature, brought indoors. Sit down, relax, and have something good to eat! Their menu features
a variety of buffalo dishes, as well as delicious, mouth-watering BBQ ribs and chicken, perfectly
prepared on our own locomotive smoker. Afterwards will be a visit to the Cheese ‘N More

Bros Theatre Ventures
“Make ‘Em Laugh,” “You Are My Lucky Star,” “You Were Meant for Me,” “All I do is Dream of
You,” and, of course the title song, “Singin’ in the Rain,” are but a few of the wonderful songs
from one of the most celebrated and beloved musical films ever made. Live and onstage, these
unforgettable scenes, songs and dances will make you laugh, make you sing, wow you with the
spectacle of it all, and leave you with a night to remember for the rest of your life.
November 5th – 9th – Myrtle Beach trip
Location: Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center Monday at 9am
Cost: $450 for double occupancy/$595 for single occupancy
Details: Price includes transportation to and from Myrtle Beach, 4 nights lodging, 8 meals (4
dinners, 4 breakfasts), 3 shows (Alabama Theater, Carolina Opry and Pirate’s Voyage). Lunch
will be on your own each day. Enjoy a nice getaway before all of the hustle and bustle of the
holiday season.
Monday, November 26th – Tanglewood Lights
Location: Clemmons, N.C.
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 1:30pm
Cost: $15.00
Details: Tanglewood Park’s rolling countryside will be transformed into a winter wonderland of
giant, twinkling snowflakes and whimsical scenes!!! Tanglewood’s Festival of Lights continues
to be one of the largest and most spectacular light shows in the entire Southeast. Dinner will be
at Pete’s Family Restaurant (not included in the price).
Tuesday, December 4th – Barter Theater “Elf the Musical”
Location: Abingdon, Va.
Time: Departs from Salem Civic Center at 9:30am
Cost: $50.00
Details: A hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa’s bag and
is taken back to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human
until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities force him to face the truth. With Santa’s
permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover
his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-
brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and helpthem remember the true meaning of Christmas. After all, the best way to spread Christmas
Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
Monday, December 10th – Bedford Elks Home
Location: Bedford, Va.
Time: Departs from Salem Senior Center at 4pm
Cost: $10.00
Details: The town of Bedford becomes a little bit brighter when the English Meadows Elks Home
Campus turns on their spectacular Christmas light display! The tradition of lighting the senior living
facility has been ongoing for 62 years now. The display is arranged along the long entrance
driveway and around the circle in front of the home’s grand entrance. Enjoy dinner at the
Liberty Train Station (not included in the price).

Trips Policies and Procedures
All trips will leave from the Salem Civic Center Parking Lot, East side, near the tennis court, (1001 Roanoke
Boulevard), where there are PLENTY of parking spaces OR from the Salem Senior Center. Please make sure you
check your trip list to see which place you will board the bus. We will keep you up to date on any changes
and/or additions.
Day Trips:
All day trips must be paid in full upon registration.
Payments made by cash or check made payable to the City of Salem (unless otherwise stated)
Unless otherwise stated per trip, cancellations prior to one week of departure results in a full refund in
the event a replacement can be made. Failure to fill vacancy will result in forfeiture of all non-refundable
payments.
Cancellations made within one week will result in forfeiture of all non-refundable payments.
All participants must complete and sign a travel participant waiver form for each trip.
Trips lacking ample number of participants will be cancelled in advance of payment deadlines and all
payments will be refunded.
Full itineraries and agendas will be available at the Salem Senior Center.
Overnight Trips:
All overnight trips must be paid by deposit or in full upon registration.
Payments made by cash or check made payable to the City of Salem (unless otherwise stated)
All cancellations for overnight trips must be made thirty days out in order to receive a full refund. All
non-refundable payments will be forfeited if cancellations are made within thirty days of departure if a
replacement is not available.
All participants must sign a participant waiver form prior to each trip.
Trips lacking ample number of participants will be cancelled in advance of payments deadlines and all
deposits/payments will be refunded.
