PRESCHOOL

            Washington Park Pavilion Preschool
The philosophy of the preschool program is that every child should be given the best
chance to grow and develop intellectually, emotionally and socially. The program features
professional staff directing activities that encourage development of individual interests,
refinement of motor skills, and preparation for Kindergarten. The curriculum is based on
the Illinois Early Childhood Learning Standards.

Washington Park Pavilion Preschool is a play-based program. Children build a foundation
for later learning as they solve problems and increase their understanding of themselves,
other people and the world around them. We set up rooms to be welcoming and inviting
places for the children to explore. Students can be signed up any time during these
            sessions (based on availability).

                   BENEFITS OF PLAY-BASED PRESCHOOL
                 • Build a foundation for learning • Increase understanding

FUNSHOP at Lincoln Park
Funshop is an exciting, early childhood education program for parents and children
“together.” It has been uniquely designed to provide the optimal one-on-one learning
experience. The program offers a unique, play-based environment where parents and
children can be interactively engaged in the wonderful world of learning. The foundation
of the innovative Funshop experience is a firm belief that parents are not only a child’s
first teachers but also his or her most trusted and influential educators.

Children learn attunement, practice listening skills, taking turns, and how to function
within a group situation. Activities enhance the refinement of fine motor skills, eye-hand
coordination, color and shape concepts, counting, songs and most importantly - calming
techniques which will serve them for the rest of their lives. They develop the art of decision
making, gain mastery over their environment, and their self-esteem begins to blossom.
