Hyland Hills Wants to Hear from You!
As you may know, Hyland Hills sends this Activities Guide to your home three times a year: December, April and August, to
let you know what is going on in the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. The Activities Guide is also available for you to
review 24-7 on our website at www.hylandhills.org. There, you can register for most programs and activities at your leisure and
convenience.
We do our best to offer you, our Residents, a variety of fun and exciting programs, parks, and athletics that we believe you and
your family might be interested in. However, I also want to remind you that we value your input and welcome hearing directly from
you. If there is a particular program or sport that we are currently not offering, or a class you have seen elsewhere that might also
work at Hyland Hills, we would very much like to hear more.
Sometimes, a change in a current program is also needed, and we like to hear about that as well. This was the case in 2016
when we heard from Residents that they would like the District to again oversee the baseball and softball programs, which were
being run by a different entity on District ballfields. We listened, and that Hyland Hills program today is thriving and continues to
grow in our community because it made sense for us to make that change.
All that said, we have hundreds of quality recreational options for you and your family to consider participating in this coming
year. We hope you will take advantage of many of them.
Please also keep an eye out for the Hyland Hills digital newsletter, which is emailed to residents who have signed up to receive it,
as we continually seek to keep you current on activities and special pricing that might not be detailed in this Activities Guide.
On behalf of the Hyland Hills Board of Directors, myself and our entire staff, we wish you a safe and prosperous new year and we
look forward to seeing you soon at a Hyland Hills facility.
Yvonne Fischbach, Executive Director

HYLAND HILLS — CITY OF WESTMINSTER JOINT USE AGREEMENT
Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District and the City of Westminster entered into a reciprocal agreement on June 5, 1990 that
allows residents of the two entities to enjoy expanded recreational opportunities. This includes over 120,000 residents of both
entities. The agreement makes current resident use of facilities virtually interchangeable. Residents can enjoy resident rates for use
of facilities and programs in both Westminster and Hyland Hills. This is a valuable opportunity for residents to be able to access the
best and most unique recreation facilities in the country at the lowest possible cost.

Many people in the Hyland Hills District knew Steve Loose,
who, sadly, passed away in October. Steve was with Hyland
Hills for 42 years and was well-known and beloved by co-
workers, business associates and thousands of young workers,
who he mentored throughout the years at Water World, where
he was the General Manager for more than 30 years.
Steve was part of the initial Hyland Hills employee team who
lent a hand to physically construct Hyland Hills Water World’s
first two water slides, in 1979. Later, Steve assisted with group
sales and marketing, until 1984, when he was named general
manager. During his tenure as general manager, Water World
evolved from a small water play attraction, into one of the
world’s most innovative and award-winning water parks.
Loose remained in that position until he retired in 2016.
