PROGRAMME ELECTIVE
• 4-MC programme elective (also known as a restricted elective);
• Pre-requisite modules are no longer required;
• For students who have completed at least 6 semesters OR attained at least 100MCs;
• A minimum duration of 10-week attachment from 13 May to 19 July 2019;
• Carry a grade classified as either Completed Satisfactory (CS) or Completed
Unsatisfactory (CU);
• No more allocation method (firms and students make their own choice);
• A list of positions is provided, students apply directly to firms;
• Adhere to timeline to avoid delay in approvals (due to high volume processing);
• Do NOT hold on to multiple offers by firms, decide fast and let others have the
chance;
• Respond to employers about your decision (accept/decline) timely and tactfully

• RE4202 is also a restricted elective that falls within the basket of restricted
electives for fulfilling the specialisation in Real Estate Finance:
- Students on the specialisation track can also opt to take RE4202
• Participation in RE4202 (programme elective) is not a reason for DRE to write
to Mindef to support a student’s application to defer Reservist Training:
– If a student is approved for RE4202, DRE can provide a confirmation letter
to this effect;
– Intern is required to make up for the period away for reservist training so as
to clock the full 10 weeks of attachment;
(Bear in mind that AY19/20 commence on 4 Aug 2019, so all internships should be
wrapped up by 5 August 2019)

Travel insurance for approved overseas trips under Internships
• Blanket travel insurance cover for students on official NUS trips
• Students on overseas trips, internships and exchange programmes (as per declaration)
which are approved, endorsed, organised, or sponsored or authorised by NUS.
• Students will have to obtain the Department’s written approval prior to the trip in order to
be covered under the blanket insurance.
• List of Excluded Countries: Balkans (Former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia), Belarus,
Burma (Myanmar), Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, etc – see following link for the

training experiences from the REIP.

the organisation structure (5 marks)
B. Your scope of work as an intern (5 marks)
C. Select ONE case study/project and explain your role in the case study/project (10 marks)
(e.g. Valuation of 1 building; Financing of 1 project; Management of 1 development, etc)
D. Lessons learnt, insights and recommendations pertaining to case study/project (20 marks)
E. Feedback in general (optional)
• If the data for the report is garnered during the internship stint, please seek prior approval from
employer to use such data in the report
• The report (excluding appendices) should not exceed 10 pages using 1.5 line spacing and Arial font
size 12
• Grading based on depth of report and application of concepts learnt during the BSc (RE) course
• Both reports (Journal Report and Project Report) are due by 5:00pm, 1 Aug 2019 via LumiNUS.
• Late submissions will incur a 5-mark penalty.
• Immediate failure for reports received after 2 Aug, 5:00pm

• Upon confirmation of your placement with the firm, you are required to
fill in Form 2. A soft copy of Form 2 can be downloaded via the link:
http://www.rst.nus.edu.sg/undergraduate/internships.html
• Please email to Mdm Vidya at rstssn@nus.edu.sg latest by 5:00 pm, 05
Apr 2019 the following:
• Email subject title: “2019 REIP Application – Student Name
(Company name)”
• Duly completed Form 2 (with job description);
• All supporting documents such as letter of
acceptance/confirmation, other email correspondences, etc;
• Any application received after 5 Apr, 5.00pm will not be
approved.

AFTER APPROVAL OBTAINED
• A faculty liaison supervisor will be appointed to students;
• DRE will directly work with firms regarding faculty liaison, employer
evaluation, etc;
• If a student rejects a confirmed placement for reasons deemed
unacceptable to DRE and/or employer, a recommendation will be
made to assign the student a CU grade for RE4202

Internship Programme as one of the REFS track,
your REIP scope must be related to finance.

form.
