PROGRAM 37th UIT Heat Transfer Conference - Symposium
Welcome letter

Dear Conference Delegate,

Welcome to the 37th UIT Heat Transfer Conference, organized by the
Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Padova (Italy) and held
at Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, Padova, on June 24-26, 2019.

The annual UIT Conference, which has grown over time, is held in Padova for
the first time. The scope of the conference covers a range of many topics in
theoretical, numerical and experimental heat transfer and related areas,
ranging from energy efficiency to nuclear plants.

This year the UIT Conference includes an International Symposium on
“Refrigerants: heat transfer and applications”. This Symposium will be held on
June 26, 2019, which is the first World Refrigeration Day and is organized in
collaboration with CNR, Istituto per le Tecnologie della Costruzione.

In this conference edition, 99 papers were contributed plus 3 keynote lectures
and 5 invited lectures. We hope this conference will be a useful occasion to
stimulate discussion, improve the understanding of heat transfer and related
phenomena, present the state of the art of some topics, discuss emerging
trends and promote collaborations.

A special thank is due to the Organizing and Scientific Committees, to the
Sponsors and to all the Participants.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
Opening ceremony and welcome cocktail
The opening ceremony will take place at the congress venue on Monday 24 June at
10.15. The welcome cocktail will be held in the external terrace of the Palazzo della
Ragione on Monday 24 June, at 20.00. Palazzo della Ragione is 2 km far from the
conference venue.
Palazzo della Ragione
The building, with its great hall on the
upper floor, is reputed to have the largest
roof unsupported by columns in Europe;
the hall is nearly rectangular, its length
81.5 m, its width 27 m, and its height 24
m; the walls are covered with allegorical
frescoes. The building of Palazzo started
in 1172 and finished in 1219. Inside the
huge hall, which was rebuilt in 1430 and
can seat up to 1500 persons, there is a
large 15th-century wooden horse, a copy
of Gattamelata's horse.

Social Dinner
The Social Dinner will take place at the “Castello del Catajo” on Tuesday 25 June. A
transfer service by bus will be available, departing at 19.00 from the congress venue,
return at the end of the dinner.
Castello del Catajo
The Catajo Castle, built on the slopes of
Montenuovo, is an imposing complex
whose exterior resembles a military
fortress. Its wide terraces offer a splendid
view of its large garden. The Catajo Castle
was built between 1570 and 1573 by Pio
Enea I degli Obizzi, from a French family
of “soldiers of fortune” who, attracted by
the beauty of the Euganean Hills, decided
to build a palace that would represent the
glory of the Obizzi family.
After the extinction of the family, the castle passed first to the Estensi family, then to
the Habsburg who used it as a hunting estate. Then, in 1929, it became the property
of the Dalla Francesca family, who sold it at the end of 2015. The structure has
impressive proportions (there are more than 350 rooms). It is decorated in the interior
with a series of frescos painted by Gianbattista Zelotti, student of Paolo Veronese.
The wide park surrounding the castle has many century-old trees and notable
vegetation.
