Many people are nervous of bidding at an auction and we are able to
help if this is the case.
Firstly, normal bidding. This is quite simple. When you arrive at the auction go to
the buyers registration where a Buyer’s Registration Form will be filled in and the
staff will issue a bidding number and the Bidding Paddle. When you wish to bid,
hold up the number so the auctioneer can see it and register your bids. When you
are successful, return to the desk in the foyer where your details and reservation fee
will be taken.
Secondly, if you wish, a member of staff can bid on your behalf with you at the
auction, simply tell us your limit and we will bid for you.
Thirdly, proxy bids. You may authorise bidding up to a limit by the auctioneer in
your absence.
Fourthly, if you cannot attend the auction or do not wish to bid in the normal
manner we will accept sealed bids for the property, these will be opened at the
auction when the lot comes up for sale. When making a sealed offer bear in mind
that each property has a reserve price.
If your sealed bid is for this amount or more and no-one bids a higher price then
the property will be sold to you.
Telephone bid – You may authorise Cumbrian Properties Auctions to conduct a
