CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME:
To all exhibitors, a warm welcome to the 40th Dobermann Club of KwaZulu-Natal
Championship Show.
As always, we thank you for your support, particularly those who are bearing the ever
increasing costs of travelling out of their province.
Our sponsor Hill’s – Global leader in Pet Nutrition and Health care has, as always, been
more than generous with prizes – A big thank you to Hill’s and their breeder representative
Tracy Moss, for their support. We trust that our relationship will grow from strength to
strength
I would like to extend grateful thanks to our judge – Mr Brian Blades from KZN who kindly took up the judging appointment at extremely short
notice when our Australian Judge cancelled.

listed at the back of this catalogue
Of course, no show is possible without the support of the individuals who make up the club committee; Chris and Gill Griffith, Sharon Blades, Sue

A new addition to our programme this year is the Dobermann Rescue Parade – also sponsored by Hill’s. We are truly grateful to the kind people
that have adopted Dobes in need, and we have put on this parade to acknowledge them, and the work done by Dobermann Rescue SA.

JUDGE
BRIAN WILLIAM BLADES (KZN)
I obtained my first Dobermann in 1977, it took about one year before I realised I
needed help as we were the owners of one totally out of control Dobermann. Once we
started training she became a different dog. We both did well and progressed very
quickly. We entered our first competition about a year later and came first, the bug had
bitten and I eventually made her into an obedience champion. I was on my way to a long and
successful obedience career.
In 1985 my wife and I started Chevindale Kennels breeding Dobermanns very successfully
producing many breed champions. Our most successful being Champion Chevindale
Ozymandus who was Supreme Dobermann for four years running and Champion
Chevindale Majestic ZTPV1A, IPO II ex, APT ex.

For many years I was the Director of Training of The Dobermann Club of Natal and for the past 10 years run my own small private training club
specialising in competition obedience.
I am a Dobermann Specialist Breed Judge, a Championship Working & Herding Group Judge as well as a Championship Child & Junior Handler
judge.
To-date I have trained 2 Dobermanns to Obedience Champions, 2 Dog Jumping Champions, 1 dog to IPO II ex. and 3 dogs to CD ex. As well as
numerous dogs qualifying APT.
I started my obedience judging career in 1982 and in 2006 was awarded the status of Senior Obedience Judge by the Kennel Union of Southern
Africa. I am also a qualified Dog Jumping Judge and Aptitude Test Leader.
I served as the Chairman of The Dobermann Club of Natal for many years and was the Chairman of the then Dobermann Breed Council of South
Africa. I am currently President of The Dobermann Club of Natal.
Presently I am the Managing Director of the highly prestigious World of Dogs & Cats Pet Expo (WODAC PET EXPO) which I started in 1996 after a
visit to the world famous Crufts Dog Show in the United Kingdom. It is the only pet exhibition of its kind in Africa and has been extremely
successful. The main aim is to introduce the public to pure bred dogs and educate them on responsible pet ownership. Visit our website -

The KZN NATIONAL DOBERMANN TROPHY is a floating trophy that will be won by the Dobermann scoring the most points during a year.
The year starts immediately after the Natal Dobermann Club Specialist Show and ends with the following Natal Dobermann Club Specialist Show.
To qualify, the dobermann concerned must be present and shown at the latter show unless the Committee in its sole discretion grants leave of
absence. Points can only be awarded at Specialist Shows at which RECOGNISED SPECIALIST JUDGES OFFICIATE. Should there be a question
regarding the qualification of a judge the matter will be referred to the President of the Dobermann Verrein – whose decision will be binding.
Should the Club be wound up or terminated for any reason, then the committee shall (prior to the winding up or terminating) appoint at their
discretion any other Dobermann Club in South Africa which is willing to take the place of the Dobermann Club of Natal for purposes of this award.
Points will be awarded as follows:
BEST OF BREED: The number of exhibits beaten.
RESERVE BEST OF BREED: The number of exhibits of that sex beaten
