Archery: A lasting
               legacy
      Across the Commonwealth:
      The proposed Qualification approach will
      encourage archery participation and development
      in Commonwealth countries, particularly in
Africa, the Caribbean and Oceania, in line with the
      Commonwealth Archery Strategy.

In addition, the Games will give clear focus and drive for a
number of development activities that are already underway.
These include the provision of second-hand equipment from
England, initially to Uganda, with plans to extend this to other
Commonwealth countries over the coming months. Another
initiative is the funding of English coaches to lead coach
development seminars in Africa and the Caribbean, with the
objective of growing coaching capability across these regions.
The first of these was held in Africa in November and included
training coaches to be able to teach everyone, including
those with a disability or visually impaired. A third element
is to increase the supply of coaching resource from more
established archery countries to help other countries improve
and grow. Earlier this year, archers on the Falkland Islands
were delighted to welcome a qualified coach from Guernsey,
who travelled to provide coaching sessions for their archers.
