Germany, Austria and Switzerland share the Lake
Constance shoreline, while the small Principality of
Liechtenstein lies somewhat upstream of the Rhine
river. Of the total of 273 km of shoreline, 173 km be-
long to Germany, 72 km to Switzerland and 28 km to
Austria. The total surface area of the lake is 536 km².
