H
ere we go again, another season has begun and with it the
excitement and promise of what has yet to come for Bohemians
        this campaign.
Unfortunately we begin this season as we ended the last, watching from
home once more as our beloved Bohs take to the Dalymount field. While
I personally believe we shall see crowds trickle back once the vaccination
process has ended (hopefully this year...), it’s scant consolation for trying
to build up the same urge of excitement at kick off as would normally be
automatic where we in Dalymount. The banter, the laughs, the slagging and Premier Division
hand-shaking with named and nameless friends and acquaintances is still 1923/24, 1927/28,
on hold and while missing the match is a great disappointment, for me and 1929/30, 1933/34,
many others I’m sure, the hole of missing the actual social engagements that 1935/36, 1974/75,
come with each game is yawning. 1977/78, 2000/01,
Win, lose or draw, curses, hollers or frustration would be set aside as
                                                                                   2002/03, 2008, 2009
pockets of fans would hang around afterwards to discuss the evening’s fare
before heading home or to the pub for some welcome and week-ending FAI Cup
pints to soothe the vocal chords and continue the debates. It’s not the 1927/28, 1934/35,
same trying to master the Guinness pour from a can while sitting at home
                                                                                    1969/70, 1975/76,
with a buffering stream and listening, sorry, enduring Ant & Dec laughing
gormlessly on the tv in the next room. But things will change. We will
                                                                                   1991/1992, 2000/01,
experience such nights again. When, who knows, but we will. 2008

as per normal this season, made available by subscription. The those who

have signed up, many thanks and continue to spread the word amongst
the faithful. And if anyone knows someone who supports another club Setanta Cup

making sure all copies are posted well in advance of the match. 1895/95 - 2016:

A Happy New Season to everyone,
I hope you are keeping safe and well. It has
been a long hard road for everyone and I offer
my sincere condolences to all those in the
Bohemian family who have lost loved ones
                     during this difficult time.
At least the football is back to distract
us and, hopefully, we will get a full season
of fixtures. We might even get some sort
of crowds in the grounds by the end of the
season. It would really make such a difference
to have fans in Dalymount and I’m sure it
makes a difference to the players.
Once again, there has been a great deal games, we’re still unsure if it will be one leg or
of comings and goings during the off season. if the home and away ties will return. I think
I would like to welcome all our new players the fact that we had no fans at our uropean
and hope they fulfil their potential while with game against Fehérvér was one of the biggest
us. We certainly seem to have a very exciting disappointments of last season.
squad and I am really looking forward to seeing Looking to tonight’s game, I’m sure we can
them progress through the season. I would put last week’s defeat behind us and grab the
also like to wish the players who have left all three points on offer against Longford. I know
the best with their new careers. Longford had a good win against Derry but
Most of you will have seen from the recent I’m sure Keith and Trevor will have our lads
update that great strides are being made off well prepared for this evening. It was always
the pitch. Over the last while we have seen going to take a bit of time for all the new
records in membership and merchandise sales players to settle in and we need to be patient.
which have led to record profits. We have am confident that, once again, we will have a
signed a long term deal with DCU for the best successful season in 2021.

season. Is there any better feeling on earth?
Invariably there is, but in this era of lockdown,
the beginning of the new season should be

progress in recent years and our
ambition is to continue that growth into
and beyond in a manner that re ects our
values and beliefs which places people at the
forefront of everything we try and do.
We are looking for progression not
perfection and understand that progress is
not always straightforward. Only by remaining
true to our core values of hard work, honesty,
accountability, integrity and respect can we
continue to build a club which across all areas,
from community to academy, to WNL and the
first team, that is representative of its people

ast season was difficult on so many levels
but ultimately we were extremely fortunate
to be in the privileged position to play football.
The decision by the board and, by extension,
the members of the football club to honour
players contracts during lockdown with so
much uncertainty, was a powerful statement
giving us all another incentive to represent the
club as best we could on the pitch.
