cash crops, such as coffee and macadamia nuts,
as an alternative to drug growing. Today residents
Corporate Social Responsibility are engaged in an expanding range of activities,
ranging from the roasting and selling of coffee
beans to the running of coffee shops and the
manufacture and sale of apparel and craft goods.
Mitsui
Library Project
This social contribution initiative was launched in 2006 to
commemorate the centenary of our business activities in Thailand.
The program is carried out by executives and employees of
Mitsui & Co. (Thailand) Ltd. who select schools in the remote rural
areas with lack of appropriate reading facilities. Library buildings,
books, information processing terminals and equipment are
donated to the selected schools. Up to now, we built up libraries to
17 schools throughout the country. We plan to continue this initiative
in the hope that it will contribute to the advancement of elementary
education in Thailand.
