STAY IN THE LOOP!
Keep your Skyward contact information up to date

Occasionally information is sent out to parents through emails or the Skylert call out
system. To stay in the loop you will want to make sure your primary phone number and email
information is current. Log into your Skyward Family Access account to view the contact
information we have on file for you.

CHANGING PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION: Your personal contact information, Username,
password or Automatic notification settings can be changed by doing the following:
   1. Login to your parent Skyward Family Access account.
   2. Go to Skylert from the list on the left.
   3. On the next screen you will be able to edit your phone numbers and home Email address

Address changes require a new proof of residency document be provided to the campus. This must be
in the form of a current utility (electric, water, or gas) bill for the residence, in the name of a guardian for
the student. Another acceptable form is the top page of the current lease agreement in the name of the
guardian. If you need assistance making a change to a field that is not editable, contact Linda Hrubo, at
hrubol@lisd.net.

HEADS UP! Two weeks after the Fall semester ends, there will be a student copy of their transcript posted
to their Skyward Portfolio This will show them their GPA and rank at that time. After the 3rd 9 weeks,
grades will freeze for rank.

TO GET TO THE SKYWARD PORTFOLIO: The student portfolio link provides access to Report
Cards and student copies of their transcript placed there for your convenience.
   4. Login to Skyward Family Access.

                                                                            WHAT IS A FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form the U.S. Department of
Education (ED) requires to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The government
conducts a "need a nalysis" based on financial information, such as income, assets, and other
family information, which you (and your parents if you are a dependent student) will be asked to
provide. This resource is located at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. A "Student Guide to Financial Aid"
detailing types of aid available from the federal government is available at no cost by contacting 1-
                     800-433-3243, or online at www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov.

The FAFSA is the application most colleges use to determine eligibility for federal, state, and
college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, educational loans, and work-study programs.
All college students are expected to contribute towards their education costs. How much you and
your family will be expected to contribute depends on your financial situation - and is what's
called your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

The FA FSA cannot be submitted until January 1 of the senior year. However, it is important
to start early and be prepared. Financial aid is usually awarded on a "first come first
serve" basis. Consequently, early application may result in a more attractive aid package.
Keep copies of all completed forms and any correspondence with the financial aid office.
Your application is examined by a federal processor and the results are sent by computer to the
financial aid offices of the colleges you've chosen.

Through the FAFSA website. high school juniors can take advantage of the FAFSA4caster and
learn about the financial aid process, gain early awareness of aid eligibility, and much more. See
page 51 for more information regarding financial aid.

• Students will be able to file FAFSA as early as October 1st each year. The earlier submission date will be a permanent change, enabling students to complete and
subntit a FAFSA as early as October 1 every year. (There is NO CHANGE to the 2016-17 schedule. The FAFSA became available January 1 as in pmous years.)

• Students will be required to report income infom1ation from an earlier 1ax year.
SCHOLARSHIPS

Some scholarships are based on merit, not financial need. Be sure to complete a
scholarship application. For many colleges this must be done in addition to the application
for admission. Students may be required to complete a financial needs analysis. If a
college awards its own scholarship dollars to students eligible for state or federal funds,
the student may not qualify for federal need-based funds. This allows the colleges to
make the best use of their scholarship dollars and to serve the greatest number of
 students.

Students should investigate any private sources of financial aid available to them. These
 may include:
-., Parents' employers ...,, Cultural Groups ...,, University Departments
  ..., Businesses ...,, Foundations ...,, Contests
...- Religious organizations ...,, Banks -.r Fraternal Organizations

Criteria which may determine scholarship recipients includes:

.., Grade Point Average .., ACT or SAT scores .., Letters of reference
...;, Class rank ...;, Essays ..., Difficulty of HS courses
  ..,, Activities ..., Interviews ..;, Autobiographical info
  ..; Leadership ..., Financial Need

Lewisville ISO Education Foundation (LEF) Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors to
help them in their continued educational journey. Scholarships are awarded based on specific
criteria established by donors. These criteria range from academic achievement and community
involvement to success outside of academic ranking and career aspirations. For more information

SENIOR SEMESTER EXAM EXEMPTIONS
Only seniors are eligible for semester exam exemptions. Requirements for exemptions
are as follows:

      • Grade averages for exemptions are based on the 2nd 9 weeks average of each
course taken during the Fall or Spring Semester. For 9 weeks courses, take the 9
      week average.

      • Attendance for exam exemptions for semester long courses is based on the 18-
week attendance period for the Fall or Spring Semester.

For the purpose of counting absences, the following will apply:

      • All absences are counted per class period whether excused or unexcused. These
absences include medical issues, prearranged absences, family emergencies, etc.
The following absences do not count against exemption status with proper
documentation; partial day medical appts., (M in Skyward) court, (C in Skyward)
college visits (Q, 2 days max. per school year), religious days ®, school-sponsored
trips (S), Taps/Veterans Funeral, US Government papers regarding citizenship.

          • Any absence due to truancy, DAEP placement, JJAEP placement, suspension,
or expulsion disqualifies a student for exemption. Three tardies count as one
            absence.
          • Seniors who qualify for exemption may choose to take the final exam.
          • Seniors will not have to attend the class period if they are exempt from that
period for the 2nd and 4th grading periods, but are required to attend classes
the 1st and 3rd grading periods.

The following chart correlates grades, attendance and exemptions:

           2019-2020 Senior Painted Parking
 1. Painted and reserved parking is a privilege intended to promote school and community spirit.
All vehicles in reserved spots must also purchase an LHS student sticker and will receive a
    hanging tag for reserved parking.
 2. The fee for a reserved PAINTED parking spot in the faculty lot is $100 if you purchase in the 1st
9 weeks, does not include the supplies needed to paint your spot. Price decreases $25 each 9
    weeks’ session (prices are $75 during 2nd 9 weeks, $50 during 3rd 9 weeks and $25 during 4th 9
weeks). Also, bring $5 for the LHS parking sticker. Complete the online parking application on the
LHS website, Student Parking link labeled “LHS 2019-2020”.
 3. Registration for the first 25 painted parking spots will begin on Thursday, May 2, 2019. You
must have attended Senior Family Night and signed the sign-in sheet at the Parking table to be
able to apply for the first lottery round. The lottery will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

form and submit it to Mr. Lindsey’s office for approval before painting begins. Once your
design has been approved, you may not deviate from it. Deviating from your approved design
will result in the removal of your painted parking privilege and the loss of the parking fee. You
will need to keep this approved design all year. (Please take a picture of your artwork or make
a copy of it for future reference).
 5. You may not paint over the yellow reserved strip at the base of your parking spot.

                   Tuesday, May 12, 2020
                 7pm in the LHS Auditorium
All seniors are invited to attend the beautiful Rosecutting Ceremony for the
Class of 2020. Rosecutting has been a Lewisville tradition since 1935. This
night is very special to seniors as they show their unity and enjoy their last
time together as an entire class before graduating. Each senior will be able to
select what friends they want to sit with during Rosecutting since graduation
is in alphabetical order. All seniors are connected by a long maroon ribbon
tied to their rose. They will walk in together as a class holding the rose, joined
by the ribbon. Rosecutting symbolizes the separation from their class and high
school as they move on to the next stage of life. Seniors will go to the stage
with their groups of friends and cut the ribbon that connects them. Parents
and guests are encouraged to attend this free event and take photos or video.
Lewisville High School expects all seniors to participate in this momentous
occasion. The evening will end with a senior slide show presentation. If you
want to be in the slideshow, send pictures of you and your friends together to

be flowers and concessions for sale at graduation.
Graduation is a time of celebration, but the actual event is formal and appropriate
behavior is a must. Please make sure to walk with dignity and class and when sitting
with your fellow graduates, show Farmer Pride by showing classy behavior. When
going across the stage, please smile and continue walking. Any form of misbehavior or
any act undignified will cause you to not receive your diploma that day.
Guests in the audience: We ask that the audience also show their respect for our
graduation, by acting dignified and with class. Please follow the following rules of
etiquette for graduation:
· The audience should be seated and quiet throughout the entire ceremony. Please take the time to
check that all cell phones, beepers, and watch alarms are OFF to eliminate distractions. This will
insure a healthy listening atmosphere for all.
· Please avoid entering and leaving the coliseum during the activities. If it is absolutely necessary to
do so, move only between changes in speakers or musical pieces.
· Feel free to exit the ceremony with small children that may become a distraction for others. It may
be best to sit near an aisle and or doorway in case of the need for a speedy exit.
· Please show your approval and support for the students and speakers with applause. Whistling,
cheering, and/or whooping are considered inappropriate and would interrupt the ceremony for our
Graduates. If you are cheering loudly for a long duration for your graduate, you will not be able to
hear the name of the next graduate.
· Conversations should be avoided.
· Noise-making devices, such as air horns, whistles, and other inappropriate distracting devices are not
permitted. Items of distraction will be taken up by the coliseum Denton and Lewisville Police on
security and the user will be asked to leave.

By following these guidelines, parents and guests set the proper example for our
graduates and will make the festivities a more enjoyable experience for all. Every parent
and family should enjoy the ceremony without a distraction as well as being able to hear
their graduate’s name as it is called. Thank you for celebrating with us and supporting
the Lewisville High School Graduating Class of 2020.
