Good Morning Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. We have officially reached the mid- marking period of the second marking period.
Believe it or not mid-term exams and the end of the marking period will be occurring shortly after our winter break in a few
short weeks. Mid-terms are typically a comprehensive assessment that will cover the content from the beginning of the year
to the end of the second marking period. The end of the marking period is currently scheduled for Thursday, January 17th and
the mid-term assessments will begin the week prior to that tentatively on Tuesday, January 7th.
Students in Mr. Arms’ Entrepreneurship class recently engaged in group work using QR codes to
investigate the various legal protections that are available to consumers. Students noted that it is
important to learn about the laws that protect customers so that they can be aware of their
responsibilities as future business owners.
Last Tuesday, December 4, four students from the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School and
two from the Coatesville Area Senior High School attended the No Place for Hate conference in
Philadelphia. Jack Hadfield (10), Ryan Sheets (10), Jeremy Ramos (10), and Tamia Vaughn
(10) represented the Intermediate High School. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has
sponsored this event for 12 years with the intent to challenge students to stand up against
hate in their schools and act as the positive light. The ADL conference in Philadelphia was
the second conference that the Coatesville Area Senior High School campus has attended.
Each year, the students are building a repertoire of strategies to counter the hate that
students and adults face in our country. Sophomore Tamia Vaughn said, “I enjoyed
listening to the speakers and other schools with regards to solving the problems our
students face.” The information presented at the ADL conference will be disseminated
though the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School homeroom representatives later in
December. The strategies learned in the conference will also be presented at the 2019
S.P.I.R.I.T. Summit which will be held at the Coatesville Area Senior High School on
March 29, 2018.
Congratulations to Natasha Cartagena (9) and Jerhmani Williams (9) for being named our November
Students of the Month. Williams was nominated by her English teacher Mrs. Cole for demonstrating
excellent leadership skills and always willing to help her classmates when they are in need. Mrs. Cole
indicated that Jerhmani is a very conscientious and caring young lady. Doing well in school is very
important to Jerhmani.
Social Studies teacher, Mr. Bardissi nominated Natasha for representing the most outstanding qualities of
a Coatesville Area Intermediate High School student. From the first day of school, Natasha has shown a deep passion and
dedication for learning, an inquisitive mind, and a purposeful work ethic. Mr. Bardissi also included that Natasha’s qualities
have not only made her a great student but have also helped her classmates become better students.
Congratulations to Mrs. Tingle-Lewis and our Bel Canto Choir on their performance in

King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 21st, 2019. We will
continue our tradition of assembling comfort kits and delivering
them to David’s Drive, CWYA Shelter and City Gate Shelter.
These organizations help homeless veterans and men, women and children in need. Our school will collect
socks to contribute towards these kits. We collect the donated items from now through Friday, January 18th, and items can be
dropped off to the main office. Please let me know if you have any questions at all, and we look forward to a successful
collection. Thank you for your generosity during this holiday season. The following schools will be collecting these items:
