Principal’s Report
Brightening our day
A massive shout out and thank you to Stuart Pollock (Alice’s Dad) for working on the new murals in our student
toilets. He is currently finishing illustrations and quotes from inspirational females in our girl’s bathroom. This
includes Australian sailor, Jessica Watson and an indigenous motive that will bring all of the separate elements
together, intermingled with inspirational quotes from Australian women.
It looks brilliant.
COVID Intensive Learning Support Program

As we all know, 2020 was an unsettling time in some ways for our students due to the disruption to schooling as a
result of COVID-19. The government and department have recognised this with the announcement of a $337 million
program aimed at ensuring that schools can identify students who would benefit the most from intensive support.
This will be tailored to their requirements to ensure that students’ educational outcomes continue to improve in
2021.
The 2021 COVID intensive learning support program will provide small group tuition for students who need it most
across NSW primary, secondary and specialist schools.

All public schools across the state will benefit with an allocation to employ additional teachers and educators to
support student learning.

We have started planning for the implementation of small group tuition program in our school which will commence
from Thursday. There we will be a strong focus on literacy. Mrs Kelly will be implementing a literacy program named
MultiLit. She will be working with specifically targeted students. We will share more information with you
throughout the year
Small Schools Swimming Carnival

Good luck to all our students participating in the Swimming Carnival on the 25th February. We are excited to see
school sport resuming after a disrupted year last year.
Year 6 shirts.

Yesterday I received this update on the shipping of the Year 6 shirts.
“Your polo order was completed by end of December and collected on our January 6th shipment, this shipment was
expected to be received by Team Spirit at the end of January however as you can see by the attached letter from our
shipping broker the delays we have encounter are unprecedented. Team Spirit has not been late in delivering any
orders to Wyong Creek PS in the past and this is something our business prides itself on.
Wyong Creek Public School
I'm still awaiting update as to expected arrival on shipment but at this stage looking like around March 12th. We are
pushing our shipper to do better…”

Basically, I want them here as soon as you do and am working on a solution. I will keep you updated.
P&C AGM.

At Wyong Creek we pride ourselves on having a strong and involved P&C. I would like to encourage all of our
families both new and existing to attend this year’s P&C AGM on Monday 15th February in the 5/6 classroom. We
look forward to revamping a lot of initiatives that were put on hold in 2020.

Kindest regards,
David Ireland
Principal

Voluntary School Contributions
At the start of each year we ask families to consider making a voluntary school contribution of $50 per child, $80 for
two children or $100 per family of 3 or more children to enhance our educational and sporting programs. This assists
us in providing quality resources for all students including textbooks and online programs. We are grateful to the
families who support our school in this way. Please present these payments to Kaylene in the school office.

School Banking

Student School banking through the Commonwealth Bank is available each Friday. Students with a Dollarmite
account are able to send in the bank books to the office each Friday Morning. For every ten weeks of banking they
are eligible for a prize.

P&C News
P&C AGM
This year’s P&C AGM will be held on Monday 15th February at 3pm in the 5/6 Classroom. Everyone is welcome to
attend whether or not you are currently a member and membership for 2021 is open to everyone for just
$1. Membership forms are available from the office or on the afternoon

At the meeting the Executive Committee for 2021 will be voted in as all positions become vacant each year. The
positions available will be President, Treasurer, Secretary and 2 x Vice Presidents. These positions are open to anyone
who wishes to stand for them but you must either attend in person to declare your interest or provide a letter to the
Secretary or President before the meeting stating as such.

If you wish to become a member but are unable to attend please advise either myself or Kane Avis prior to the meeting
and provide your $1 by leaving it at the office or passing to us and completing a membership form.

A Fundraising sub-committee will also be formed on the day, so if you wish to be part of this but again unable to attend
the meeting please advise so we can include you.

A normal monthly committee meeting will be held directly after the meeting.

I hope to see as many people there as possible.

Canteen
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for Canteen this term, I am incredibly pleased to say that the roster is
full!
Wyong Creek Public School
Last week’s canteen team delivered an amazing effort to not only provide canteen on the day for the students and
teachers, but also prepare amazing recess treats and lunches for the term ahead. This will certainly make the job
easier for the volunteers for the rest of the term.

Thank you
I have come to the end of my 3 years as President of the P&C and just wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone
who has worked with me and supported me over the last 3 years. I would also like to thank Mr Ireland, Kaylene and
the whole teaching team for their support of the P&C. It has been amazing to see how much a team of volunteers can
achieve for our small school

I will continue to be a member of the P&C and helping with the Canteen so won’t be disappearing all together.

As always if you wish to discuss any issues, ideas or talk about becoming a member please feel free to have a chat to
any member of the Executive.

Thank you
Donna Jones
