THANK YOU
What a wonderful community we live in!
After our call out last term for donations to raise funds to purchase two
additional tables and fit balls for our exercise classes, our members
rose to the challenge donating enough funds to purchase the tables and
fit balls. So thank you to everyone who made this happen and thank you
to all our members who have signed up again for another exciting year
ahead. Your membership fee goes towards our operating expenses. If
you haven’t yet renewed your membership or would like to join still, it’s
not too late, we welcome everyone to be part of our growing
                                 community.
In addition to the above we would also like to acknowledge:
 Tarrawarra Abbey for their kind donation
 The Yarra Glen Chamber of Commerce donated funds for the
purchase of a gazebo for the garden
 Bruce Anderson donated two truckloads of water to refill our
garden tank after running dry from watering the garden over the
                                 summer months
 The Yarra Glen Freemasons Lodge members for their work in
preparing the ground where another shed will be installed in our
                                      garden
 Joe who donated some pre-loved netting for us to net our fruit
                               trees next summer
 Thank you to all our members who have changed their IGA
community benefit card’s over to a centre benefit card. If you
would still like to make a change over, we have cards available at
the Centre or you can ask the cashier for a new card when paying
                                 for your goods.
 Thank you to all our garden group and committee members who
watered the garden over the summer. As you can see their
dedication on those never ending hot days has paid off, the garden
                              is looking fabulous!

Reminder about class payments
If you are continuing classes from one term to the next, we would appreciate timely fee payments. When class
fees are not paid on time, Centre staff spend a lot of time following up payments and hence less time is available
for other Centre needs. Fees for all classes and/or workshops are due prior to the start of each term or at the
latest the first week of term for ongoing classes, thank you.

Effective January 2019, there will be a 10% surcharge on all class fees
that are not paid on time.

                                   How can you help us?
If you are not already a member of the Centre, please join.
Membership is only $10 per year or $8 for Pensioners (please show your pension card to access). Annual
membership is based on a calendar year (January through to December).

                                 Community Benefit (CB) Card
When shopping at Ritchies and by using a community benefit card linked to Yarra Glen Living & Learning Centre,
Ritchies will donate money back to the Centre. These cards can be used at ANY Ritchies IGA store, supermarket
or liquor throughout Vic, NSW and Qld by any of our supporters and their families.
If you would like to support the Centre and you don’t already have a CB card please collect one at the registers
next time you shop at ANY Ritchies store to use every time you shop or swop around your cards to share the
benefits.. All you do is nominate Yarra Glen Living and Learning Centre, it’s that easy! We also have cards
available to collect at the Centre. Thank you in advance for your support.

                         OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP?
                                               Donations
Through the Australian Neighbourhood Houses & Centres Association (ANHCA) the Centre now has Deductible
Gift Recipients (DGR) status. This means that all donations of $20 and more are tax deductible. Donations would
have to be processed through the ANHCA Public Fund. Donors must contribute unconditionally to the ANHCA
Public Fund to claim a tax deduction. However, a donor may indicate an organisation or project as the preferred
beneficiary for their gift. Please see Debra for appropriate forms to be completed.

                                             Sponsorship
Do you know of a business that would be keen to support the Centre with ongoing sponsorship? Even a one off
sponsorship payment would be warmly accepted.

                                 Philanthropic Sponsorship
We are looking for opportunities to receive philanthropic donations or grants from companies and /or foundations
with a similar vision to that of the Centre, namely, to provide our community with a greater sense of wellbeing
and belonging. Have some ideas? Then chat to Debra.

BUNNINGS CAKE STALL FUNDRAISER
Thank you Rosalie, Lesley, Karen, Steve, Christina, Helen and Debra for giving up your time on
Saturday 16 February to run our cake and other goodies fundraiser stall at Bunnings.
Thank you also to all our members who baked up a frenzy of cakes, slices, rocky road, cookies and
preserves for us to sell. We SOLD OUT all the cakes etc but have some nectarine chutney, apricot jam
and lemon preserves still available to purchase from the office. We have locked in another stall for
October this year and a sausage sizzle in September and will be looking for helpers again then.
                                           We raised $608!
