On behalf of the Recreation Commission and the staff of the Carrollton Parks and Recreation
Department, I am pleased to present our spring/summer brochure. It is a very exciting time for
our department as we expand upon our capital improvements, continue to highlight our existing
recreation programs, and showcase our outstanding attractions such as the Carrollton Greenbelt,
East Carrollton Recreation Complex, and our beautiful parks around our community.

This past fall, our department won the coveted Georgia Recreation and Parks Association
Agency of the Year Award. This further cements our status as a proven leader in our field in the
state of Georgia. Our department is one of 165 departments Nationally Accredited in the United
States. Accreditation is a quality assurance and quality improvement process demonstrating an
agency’s commitment to its employees, volunteers, patrons and our community. We are one of
five departments in the state of Georgia who are a nationally accredited parks and recreation
department. Rest assured, we are one of the top parks and recreation departments in the country.
We consider it a privilege to be able to contribute to an improved quality of life for our entire city.
Drop by and visit us sometime. Thanks, as always, for the steadfast community support. We
couldn’t do it without you.

Sincerely,

Peter Maierhofer
Director, Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department

CARROLLTON FLEXETTES COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS TEAM
The Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department offers a girls competitive
gymnastics team where over 80 competitive gymnasts call home. We offer an
outstanding, yet affordable gymnastics team program to our community. Our
year-long program follows USAG guidelines and competes in the AAU and
USAG divisions. These are invitation-only programs, comprised of gymnasts
who are looking to advance their skills in a competitive arena. New team
members are determined with an invitational tryout in May. An appointment
can be made with the head coach to schedule an evaluation throughout the
year. Competitive gymnastics is a year-round sport which runs June 1 until
May 31. For information, contact Ali Trent atrent@carrollton-ga.gov or
