SMUS' STEAM Camp
During this intense and engaging STEAM program, young science curious innovators-in-training
will dive deep into the magical world between arts and science using lenses, cans, and code.

We will be discovering unexpected linkages, learning new concepts, and extending our creative
superpowers through material science and messy hands-on experimentation, all the while
gleefully blurring the boundaries between what is traditionally thought of as either science, art,
or play.

This year's focus is on Energy, Patterns, and Vision. We will be constructing energy harvesting
machines, building eyes, and filling virtual worlds with dancing patterns using code.

Along the way, we will learn about information design, how to hack the brain with optical
illusions, and how to split up and re-combine sunbeams and sound waves.

We are delighted to offer our newly designed Music Camp that provides keen music students an

about their instruments by working on technique, while also gaining experience and confidence
by playing in combos or ensembles. The instructional approach and atmosphere is inspiring and
nurturing, while overall remaining focused on creating a fun and positive musical experience.
Students should have at least one year of music instruction in a school band program, private
lessons, or the equivalent.

Participants will take part in daily workshops, masterclasses, focused electives and ensembles or
combos. There will also be daily outdoor programs, for students to enjoy activities that take
advantage of the great summer weather.
