Tom and jerry movie 2021 release date hbo max

Edgar Cervantes / Android AuthorityHBO Max combines the huge HBO film library with several other films available exclusively for the service. But which of the HBO Max movies are the best ones to stream and watch today? Read: Can I get HBO Max for free? Here are our picks for the best HBO Max movies. We kept this list to films you can watch
on HBO Max. For a list of the best movies on the HBO service, head over to our separate feature. You can sign up for the new streaming service at the link below. The best HBO Max movies: Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best HBO Max movies regularly as new ones launch. 2001: A Space OdysseyStanley Kubrick directed and co-wrote
(with Arthur C. Clarke) this 1968 sci-fi epic. Even in this age of CGI, this film still holds up extremely well. The themes of evolution and the discovery of a vastly superior alien civilization stand out, as humanity takes its first few steps beyond Earth. Of course, the movie’s highlight is HAL, the AI in charge of the Jupiter-bound spaceship Discovery. HAL
doesn’t want anything to stop this mission, even the human astronauts who HAL sees as threats. It’s definitely one of the best HBO Max movies. CasablancaThe 1942 classic WWII-themed romantic movie is still highly emotional to watch. Rick, played perfectly by Humphrey Bogart, is the owner of a bar in Casablanca, Morocco, where all sorts of
“business” is taken care of under the table. However, Rick never thought he would have to encounter his lost love Ilsa, played equally perfectly by Ingrid Bergman. Ilsa and her husband are on the run from the Nazis, and they both need Rick’s help to get away from them. Can Rick keep his feelings for Ilsa at bay? Will Ilsa abandon her husband for
Rick? This movie is perhaps the first great romantic film, and it’s still one of the best you can watch. The Dark KnightThis 2008 movie is definitely the best of the Batman films you can watch on HBO Max. It’s certainly one of the best HBO Max movies you can watch. Christopher Nolan makes the idea of a rich man who dresses up as a bat-man to fight
crime in Gotham City believable, and that’s no small feat. However, the main reason for the greatness of this film is Heath Ledger. His performance as a total anarchist Joker is perfect. Unfortunately, he passed away before the movie was released, but he still won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role. JokerWe can’t talk about
Batman without mentioning his most popular enemy, the Joker. The movie received an onslaught of great reviews and plenty of accolades. Joaquin Phoenix plays the Joker (and gets multiple Best Actor awards for it).The film follows the Joker’s early story as he becomes the villain we all know so well. His dark story digs deep into the psychological and
emotional problems a taxi driver must endure, and gives you a better understanding of how he became Batman’s biggest rival. It’s definitely among the best HBO Max movies. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the KingYou still should watch The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers on HBO Max before watching the final film in Peter
Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novel trilogy. However, it’s clear that The Return of the King is the best film in this series (it did win the Academy Award for Best Film in 2008). From the massive battles to defend Middle Earth from the forces of evil to the more personal story of Frodo and Sam venturing into Mordor to finally destroy
the One Ring, this is an epic film that also pulls at the heartstrings. This movie clocks in at 3 hours and 20 minutes. However, you can also watch the even longer Extended Edition (4 hours and 23 minutes) of this movie on HBO Max. You can also watch extended versions of the first two films, The Fellowship of the Ring (3 hours and 48 minutes) and
The Two Towers (3 hours and 55 minutes) on the service. Yes, that’s a total of just over 12 hours of Lord of the Rings goodness. Singin’ in the RainIs there a better movie musical than this 1952 classic? Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds are all at the top of their game as they play movie performers in 1920s Hollywood. The plot
doesn’t really matter. What matters is this movie has tons of great songs, tons of great singing by the leads, and some memorable dance and set pieces that really can’t be topped, even today. The Wizard of Oz1939 not only brought us Gone with the Wind, but also this children’s musical classic that is still great to watch. Ok, Judy Garland might have
been a tad too old to play Dorothy Gale, but you can ignore that for the most part. What you get are excellent songs, some fantastic performances by Garland and the rest of the cast, and some superb visual effects and art design. You also get one of the best movie villains of all time, with Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch of the West. Anyone who
threatens a dog is automatically someone to be feared. The Suicide SquadSupervillains are dangerous and deserve their own prison, but they are also competent killing machines. This is why they’re offered a chance to get out of this prison and join the secretive Task Force X. They are tasked with a search and destroy mission in the middle of a
remote island. The job won’t be easy, as the jungle is full of enemies. This is why Task Force X has some of the most dangerous characters in the DC universe. These include Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Thinker, Savant, Javelin, etc. The HangoverYou’ve heard plenty of bachelor’s party stories, but none of them are as wild as this
one. Doug and his three friends go on a wild night in Vegas. The only problem is they don’t remember a thing the day after, and it seems they made some terrible decisions. Especially considering the soon-to-be groom is nowhere to be found. Join them in this wild adventure as they try to retrace what they did to find Doug. You can’t go wrong with a
Stephen King classic. This time Pennywise is back and more hungry than ever. He has had 27 years to build up his appetite for children. A group of kids must get the courage to face the beast, which happens to be much more than a crazy clown. The creature keeps threatening Derry, a small town in Maine, so something must be done about it. The
best HBO Max movies – Honorable mentions There are a ton of classic and great HBO Max movies to watch on this service. Here are just a few more to check out. King Kong (1933) – The original film about the discovery of a massive ape remains the best Kong film ever made. Rebel Without a Cause – James Dean was an immediate star in this instant
classic film from 1955 about real teenage life at the time. The Dirty Dozen – It’s not a realistic WWII movie, but this 1967 action film about Army convicts given one more chance to fight the Nazis has been highly influential ever since. Rocky – The first and best of the long-running series about a down-on-his-luck boxer that has an opportunity to fight
the heavyweight champ can still tug on the heartstrings. The Right Stuff – Perhaps the best-scripted movie about the US space program, as it looks at how the original seven Mercury astronauts were selected. Read more: HBO and HBO Max not working? Here’s how to fix it Photo Courtesy: Netflix, Disney Plus Spring is upon us and with it comes a
batch of new TV and movie releases that we hope will keep us entertained while we wait for things to slowly return to normal. Here’s our selection of some of the must-watch titles in April 2021. Concrete Cowboy (April 2): Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin plays Cole, a 15-year-old who gets expelled from school in Detroit. His mother decides he
may learn a thing or two living by with his estranged father (Idris Elba) in North Philadelphia for the summer. This coming-of-age movie, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2020, depicts Philadelphia’s urban-cowboy subculture. The Serpent (April 2): Inspired by real events, this eight-episode limited series is co-produced by
BBC One and Netflix. Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian) and Jenna Coleman (Victoria) play a couple posing as gem dealers. They were suspects in a series of murders of Western travelers in Thailand, Nepal and India in 1975 and 1976. The show recounts the international investigation that followed in the wake of the crimes. Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me
(April 14): This multi-camera eight-episode sitcom stars its creator, Jamie Foxx. In the show, Foxx plays a bachelor and successful professional who suddenly becomes a full-time dad to a teenage daughter (Kyla-Drew.) The show is inspired by Foxx’s relationship with his daughter Corinne Foxx, who also executive produces here. Shadow and Bone
(April 23): Based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling YA fantasy novels, this show’s eight-episode first season follows soldier and orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who finds out she has an extraordinary power that could liberate her country from war. But it’s not all fighting and magic: the story also packs an old-fashioned love triangle. If you’re feeling
like some suspense or if you dig last-minute twists, April has some new thrilling proposals for viewers like you. Two of the titles on this list are even based on bestselling books. Photo Courtesy: Michele K. Short/HBO Mare of Easttown (April 18), HBO: Kate Winslet plays Mare Sheehan, a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who investigates a local
murder. This seven-part limited series also stars Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart and Guy Perce. This looks like the perfect match for fans of previous HBO mysteries Big Little Lies, The Undoing and Sharp Objects. The Secrets She Keeps (April 19), AMC: This six-part Australian series is making its way to American audiences with an AMC release. The
show is based on Michael Robotham’s thriller novel of the same name and follows the encounter between two pregnant women from very different backgrounds in Sydney. The show dabbles in the idea that there’s no perfect life, just the illusion of it. Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse (April 30), Amazon Prime Video: You might be a fan of Jack Ryan,
Amazon Prime’s TV show based on the famous Tom Clancy analyst-turned-spy character. Now comes a movie about another one of Clancy’s popular characters from the same universe: John Clark. Michael B. Jordan plays the elite Navy SEAL in this origin story movie, which sees his character taking matters into his own hands when his pregnant wife
is murdered. Atlantic Crossing (April 4), PBS: This eight-part miniseries stars Kyle McLachlan (Twin Peaks) as President Franklin Roosevelt. The PBS Masterpiece show portrays Roosevelt’s relationship with Norwegian Crown Prince Martha (Sofia Helin), who lived in the White House after fleeing the Nazis during World War II. Photo Courtesy:
Hulu/IMDb Them (April 9), Amazon Prime: This anthology series with horror and supernatural ingredients has some Lovecraft Country vibes. The first season is set in the 1950s and tells the story of a Black family who moves to an all-white neighborhood in Los Angeles during the Great Migration. The Nevers (April 11), HBO: Due to a halt in
production caused by COVID-19, the first season of this Victorian series will be divided into two parts, with Part One having six episodes and debuting in April. The Nevers tells the story of a supernatural event that gives certain people — mostly women — abnormal abilities. The show was created by Joss Whedon, who initially also served as
showrunner. Whedon, who’s been mired in abuse and misconduct allegations, left the show in November 2020. Philippa Goslett is the new showrunner. Big Shot (April 16), Disney Plus: This 10-episode comedy might remind you of Ted Lasso, another fish-out-of-water sports story. Here, John Stamos plays Coach Korn, a basketball coach who’s been
ousted from the NCAA and ends up finding a job at an all-girls high school. But coaching a group of teenagers sure isn’t a walk in the park. The Handmaid’s Tale (April 28), Hulu: The fourth season of this adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s harrowing novel won’t make for easy watching. But expect another masterful performance from Elisabeth Moss
(June) while her character strikes out against Gilead as a rebel leader in this dystopian story about a totalitarian society. The Mosquito Coast (April 30), Apple TV Plus: Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) and Melissa George (In Treatment) star in this seven-episode series created by Neil Cross (Luther) and based on the book by Paul Theroux, Justin
Theroux’s uncle. Justin Theroux plays a radical and inventor who uproots his family to flee to Mexico while on the run from the U.S. government. Shiva Baby (April 2), select theaters and VOD: Emma Seligman makes her feature directorial debut writing and directing this comedy about the twentysomething Danielle (Rachel Sennott) and her
tribulations. Her parents force her to attend a family shiva where she runs into her ex, Maya (Molly Gordon), and her sugar daddy, Max (Danny Deferrari). Voyagers (April 9), theaters: Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan and Lily-Rose Depp star in this science-fiction YA film written and directed by Neil Burger (Divergent). The movie follows a group of young
women and men who are sent via spacecraft to colonize a distant planet, but end up defying their training. "As life on the ship descends into chaos, they’re consumed by fear, lust and the insatiable hunger for power," reads the movie’s synopsis. The Oscars (April 25), ABC: And while we’re recommending things to watch in April, let’s not forget the
93rd Academy Awards, which will celebrate 2020’s best movies. Granted, it’ll be a 3+ hour Zoom meeting. But celebrities also look better than regular people while in their pajamas. Plus, this year the nominations have been so diverse and on point that we couldn’t find much fault in them. Jason Sudeikis in “Ted Lasso,” LeBron James in “Space Jam: A
New Legacy” and Scarlett Johansson in “Black Widow.” Photo Courtesy: Apple TV+/Warner Bros./Marvel Studios Summer is very much underway but that doesn’t mean things have slowed down one bit in terms of new titles to watch. If anything, we can’t believe the number of summer movies on the horizon. You’ve been waiting quite some time to
watch some of these films. Also, as we did with the June calendar of releases, we’re including new series, returning ones, films to watch at home as well as movies you can only see in theaters. Here are the titles we’re most excited about in July of 2021. Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, Carla Gugino and Karen Gillan in “Gunpowder Milkshake.” Photo
Courtesy: Netflix Fear Street Trilogy (July 2, 9 and 16 ): This horror trilogy, which premieres over three consecutive Fridays, is set in Shadyside, a town haunted for generations. Part One is set in 1994, Part Two in 1978 and Part Three in 1666. In Part One a group of teenage friends discovers the ancient evil responsible for a series of murders that
have plagued the town for centuries. The movies are based on R.L. Stine’s horror series Fear Street. We the People (July 4): Set to original songs performed by H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Andra Day, Adam Lambert and poet Amanda Gorman, this animated series is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama and Kenya Barris (black-
ish). The show consists of 10 three-minute music video episodes that cover basic U.S. civics lessons. Netflix describes the show as an “exuberant call to action for everyone to rethink civics as a living, breathing thing and to reframe their understanding of what government and citizenship mean in a modern world.”Dogs (July 7): This documentary
series for dog lovers is back with a four-episode second season that further explores humankind’s bond with our furry four-legged best friends. The new season explores the stories of an astronaut, a priest, a military contractor and the handler of a university mascot — and all of their doggie family members.Gunpowder Milkshake (July 14), Netflix and
select theaters: This action film stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) as a mother-daughter duo of highly skilled assassins. If watching Headey in action mode post her Cersei Lannister’s days doesn’t sound enticing enough — and it should — let me add that Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians), Angela Bassett
(Strange Days) and Carla Gugino (San Andreas) round out the cast as the lethal (and sexy) Librarians. The Last Letter from Your Lover (July 23): Based on the novel by Jojo Moyes, this movie starring Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones interweaves two stories. Ellie (Jones) is a present-day London journalist who discovers a series of secret love letters
from 1965. In them, Ellie uncovers the story of Jennifer (Woodley), the wife of a rich industrialist who fell in love with the journalist assigned to cover him. Josh Peck in ”Turner & Hooch.” Photo Courtesy: Disney+ The Beast Must Die (July 5), AMC+: Since the offerings from new streaming services never cease, here’s an AMC+ original starring Cush
Jumbo (The Good Fight) and Jared Harris (Chernobyl). This six-part revenge thriller is based on a novel by Nicholas Blake. Jumbo plays Frances, a woman who poses as a novelist researcher to investigate and learn who was responsible for the death of her son Martie. She suspects George Rattery (Harris) and designs a plan to kill him. It’s still too
early to know whether this show could bring AMC back some of its early-golden-age-of-TV glory, which was garnered with shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Monsters at Work (July 7), Disney+: This Pixar animated series is a sequel to Monsters, Inc. (2001) that follows the Monsters power plant the day they start harvesting children’s laughter
instead of their screams to generate energy. Old favorites Mike (voice of Billy Crystal) and Sulley (voice of John Goodman) return alongside new characters like Tylor (voice of Ben Feldman), a recent graduate from Monsters University who must learn how to switch from Scarer to Jokester to succeed in his career. The White Lotus (July 11), HBO: Shot
on location in Hawaii, this six-episode limited series and social satire is set at an exclusive tropical resort. The show follows the staff and guests over a week as tensions start to arise and paradise starts looking less so. The ensemble cast consists of Murray Bartlett (Looking), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), Jennifer Coolidge (Promising Young
Woman), Steve Zahn (Treme) and Alexandra Daddario (True Detective).Turner & Hooch (July 21), Disney+: This 12-episode show stars Josh Peck as Scott Turner, a U.S. Marshal and son of Detective Scott Turner from the 1989 film of the same name with Tom Hanks. Scott inherits an unruly Dogue de Bordeaux dog who disrupts his life at first, but, of
course, ends up being exactly the partner he needed all along. Ted Lasso (July 23), Apple TV+: You may want to actually start paying for Apple TV+ to catch the second season of this workplace comedy set in London. Jason Sudeikis executive produces, writes and stars in this light-hearted story about a professional Premier League soccer coach,
which is filled with jokes about cultural differences and the power of positive reinforcement. Thankfully you don’t need to know anything about football or even like the sport to enjoy the show.2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony (July 23), NBC: You’ll only be able to watch the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo Summer
Olympics on NBC but the channel’s streaming service, Peacock, will offer highlights from both. Beginning July 24, Peacock will also air four live studio shows every day to catch viewers up on the must-see moments from the Olympic Games. And remember: you can subscribe to ad-supported Peacock for free. Benicio Del Toro and Don Cheadle in “No
Sudden Move.” Photo Courtesy: Warner Bros. No Sudden Move (July 1), HBO Max: Set in 1954 Detroit, this Steven Soderbergh-directed film tells the story of a group of small-time criminals hired to steal a document. But when their calculated plan goes sideways, they need to figure out who hired them and why. The star-packed cast features Don
Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Ray Liotta, Jon Hammer, Kieran Culkin, Noah Jupe and Amy Seimetz. Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) (July 2), Hulu and theaters: This documentary directed by Questlove won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival. During the span of
six weeks in the summer of 1969, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed but the footage remained unseen — until now. The movie features that footage along with concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and more. The Tomorrow
War (July 2), Amazon Prime: Initially planned for a theatrical release, Chris Pratt stars here as Dan Forester, a high school teacher and dad who decides to try to save the world. A group of time travelers arrive from 2051 to warn humanity about a war against an alien species, and they need soldiers and civilians from the present to go to the future and
fight with them. Dan will be among those who get recruited.Black Widow (July 9), Disney+ with Premier Access and theaters: The wait is finally over for the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film to be released in two years after Spider-Man: Far From Home debuted in July of 2019. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha Romanoff in
this story set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016). Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz also star in this first film of the MCU’s Phase Four.Space Jam: A New Legacy (July 16), HBO Max and theaters: LeBron James stars alongside a bunch of Looney Tunes in this animated/live-action movie and stand-alone sequel to 1996’s
Space Jam. The movie sees LeBron and his young son Dom (Cedric Joe) trapped by an A.I. system in a digital space. To free themselves, the basketball player will have to lead Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny and the other Tunes against a group of digital versions of professional basketball stars.Jungle Cruise (July 30) Disney+ with Premier Access and
theaters: Catalan filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra directs this adventure film for the whole family, which stars Emily Blunt as the researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. She travels from London to the Amazon and hires Frank (Dwayne Johnson) to guide her downriver on his boat. Her goal is to uncover an ancient tree with healing abilities before someone
nefarious gets their hands on it. Expect solid comic performances from Johnson and Blunt. Vicky Krieps, Thomasin McKenzie, Gael García Bernal and Luca Faustino Rodriguez in “Old.” Photo Courtesy: Universal Pictures Old (July 23): Directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, and adapted from the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy
and Frederik Peeter, this psychological thriller tells the story of a vacationing family. Relaxation time turns into something else entirely when they discover that the beach they chose is causing them to age rapidly, reducing their lives into a single day. The cast includes Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle), Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), Rufus
Sewell (The Man in the High Castle), Ken Leung (Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens), Eliza Scanlen (Little Women) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit).Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origin (July 23): Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) stars as the titular character. He learns the ways of the ninja warriors after saving the heir of a Japanese clan
called the Arashikage and finding a home amongst them. But as his past is revealed, his honor will be questioned. The movie is based on Hasbro’s toy and media franchise and also stars Andrew Koji (Warrior), Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) and Samara Weaving (Bill & Ted Face the Music). The Green Knight (July 30): This fantasy adventure film is
based on the legend of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) stars as Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s nephew. He embarks on a hero’s journey in a quest to confront the titular Green Knight.
