JULY 2021
EDITION
Welcome to the July Edition of Court Up!
This past month has been a busy one with numerous activities in both Killarney Court and
Lake Haven Court.
Killarney Court hosted the biggest morning tea – Mad Hatters Tea Party to raise awareness
and funds for cancer research. We managed to raise $1000, beating our fund-raising goal
which was an exceptional result. Thank you to everyone who donated and to the Killarney
Court Activities team for organising such a successful event.
While we are back living under COVID-19 restrictions again, this may impact some of the
events we have planned for you this month. Our activities team and our care team will keep
you informed and updated as to any changes to our activities calendar.
We hope you enjoy the month ahead and this edition of Court up!

KAYLENE DAVIS LAKE HAVEN COURT
Hello, my name is Kaylene.
I have been a resident at Lakehaven
Court for just over 3 years. I live here
with my partner John. I celebrate my
birthday in July.
I was born in Ballina and went to school
at Tumut and Nimbin.
We moved around a lot as my father
worked on farms. I learnt a lot about farm
animals and used to help my parents on
the farm.
I love all animals, but I especially like
sheep and baby lambs.
We finally moved to Budgewoi and stayed
there, when my parents got older.
My favourite things to do are jigsaw
puzzles and knitting.
I have an IPAD and can play games on that too.
I enjoy going to the shops with John. We spend most of our time together.
COURT UP! | JULY 2021 EDITION 7Meet Our Residents
RONA WOOLLEY LAKE HAVEN COURT
Hello, my name is Rona.
I have been living at Lakehaven Court for just over 1
and a half years.
I am turning 96 this month, and some days I really
feel my age.
I was born in Glebe and moved to Croyden when I
was 5, and I grew up there.
When I was young we took many family holidays to
the North Coast. My father worked for the railways
and we got free train passes which saved a lot of
money.
After I married, we took holidays to Brisbane
regularly, as that was where my husband’s family
were.
I worked for many years as a general hand at Cottee’s. They were a good company to work
for. Cottee’s used to sell door to door in the early days, look how far they’ve come!
I have two sons Michael and Dennis. They visit me every week and always bring me
something nice like cake. They are wonderful sons.
I enjoyed playing indoor and outdoor bowls for quite a few years. I won a cup once, it was
awarded to the novices, so it had nothing to do with my skill as a bowler, which was just
average.
I like living here, the staff do a great job.
