Dr. Seuss Character
Contest
Pueblo City-County Library District is pleased to announce the winners and honorable
mentions of the 2021 Create Your Own Dr. Seuss Character Contest. Students, from kindergarten
to high school, were invited to draw their own Dr. Seuss character and write a brief description
of their character. There were 631 entries this year!
The students, whose characters were selected, received a certificate of recognition, a
booklet with all winning entries and a gift certificate to Books Again Bookstore, courtesy of
the Friends of the Library. The judges were Friends of the Library board members Eileen Arnot,
Monica Ayala and Erik Segall.
The library wishes to thank everyone who entered the contest and the teachers and parents
who encouraged them to participate. We look forward to your entries again next year!

Jewel Fox 1st Place - Kindergarten Ellie Ellie the elephant is playing “hide and peek” with her friends Lady and Tweets. Ellie can’t find them!
Henry Mriglot 2nd Place - Kindergarten Eye-Hooh Eye-Hooh does not like apples. He can grab the sun and it changes his colors. He is made of tenticles and lives on a rock. He likes the letter H.
William Robinson 3rd Place - Kindergarten Cribary The Cribary in the library likes to go to the puppets.
Aubrey Skeith 1st Place - 1st Grade Untitled My character is short and fluffy, with purple stripes.
Aver Maestas 2nd Place - 1st Grade Sparkle
Liam Winans-Medley 3rd Place - 1st Grade Long Man Habitat: On the beach. Diet: Marshmallows, M&M’s and chocolate. Personality: Happy.
Zaylie Murray 1st Place - 2nd Grade Billy Bear Hi, my name is Billy Bear. I like eating honey. I work at Target and like to hang with friends on the weekend. I like to wear my favorite hoodie and hat with a “B” for Billy. The dentist made me get braces because I ate too much honey.
Eli McMurtree 2nd Place - 2nd Grade Spikymaldcky Habitat: He lives inside an enchanted cave. Diet: He eats enchanted apples off of the trueolo trees. Personality: He is nice. He likes to play games with friends.

Caleb Medved 1st Place - 3rd Grade Nature Cager This is a mystical creature that lives somewhere in the jungles on a planet called “Motmo.” Its protection is it can blend into plants and move plants. It can fly 45,000 feet in the air. It eats aechmeachantinii plants and it’s plants. It’s predators are leaping lions and lazy leopards.
Modi Bennedsen 2nd Place - 3rd Grade Manthall Habitat: Cray Cray Rainbowland. Diet: Water and Saplack tree leaves. Personality: Loves climbing mountains and swimming and gets angry when he is late for seeing a sunset.
AJ Ayala 3rd Place - 3rd Grade Mia Hi, my name is Mia the caduort. I’m part cat, part duck and part octopus and my special talent is my Minnie Mouse impression. I love to sing, dance and listen to country music.
Aiden Travis 1st Place - 4th Grade Glarpbnop Habitat: Unknown planet. Diet: Galaxy berries. Personality: Weird, likes eating cars, is friends with all of the Star Wars universe and is best buds with Yoda and Baby Yoda.
Charlotte Roberts 2nd Place - 4th Grade Yizard the Fizard Blizard Wizard This is Yizard. She is a fizard blizard wizard. She can fly and have fire and ice powers. She can also bring things to life. Her ancestors were cotail dragons and turtleneck icers. She got her flying powers as a gift. Her power to bring stuff to life is a mystery. She is the first of her kind. She is starting her own school, a school for magic. Her favorite food is muffins so that is what is given for breakfast at the academy. She and the academy are on planet Rondling. Planet Rondling is home to the artlings, fuzzlings and three mischievious ninjas. She teaches magic mostly to the artlings and the earthlings. She created the earthlings.
Jayven Carrero 3rd Place - 4th Grade Panda Roni My name is Panda Roni. I dream of pepperoni. My feather wings are made of fire. They make me fly higher. I roll on my pizza roller. My favorite topping is pineapple and I have a pizza on my tummy and in my free time I stare at the pizza clouds. My bracelets are made of breadsticks and the black stripes are the burnt crust from the stove and the red lines are pizza sauce.
Mikayla Mickey 1st Place - 5th Grade The Confusing Catouse My Cat in the Hat character is the Confusing Catouse. He’s confused because his body is half cat and half mouse. While everyone knows a mouse likes to be quiet, a cat on the other hand likes to meow and make such a riot. By definition a catouse means an uproar or commotion. This Confusing Catouse is a mix of emotions.
Deven Niblick 2nd Place - 5th Grade Purple Panda Let me introduce you to Purple Panda. Purple Panda is furrier than a Pop Snart and is more pleasant than a pink Panda Punk. A piece of Purple Panda’s fur tastes more funny than a Fanny Canny. Purple Panda babies are pretty, prettier than a Snakmark. Purple Panda hunts blue bamboo using blue typhoon spoons. Purple Panda keeps pairs of purple pants for panda needs. Purple Panda lives in a pretty place for pandas. Purple Panda sleeps outside on his purple plated sand. Purple Panda has a very purple palace. Purple Panda watches TV on his very purple TV while sitting on his purple plush couch. Purple Panda has a purple parrot named Polly Petey that gets sleepy in his purple aviary. Purple parrot loves to eat large juicy grapes while sitting pretty on his perfect purple perch. Purple Panda has many pretty perplexing abilities. Purple Panda can ride a purple tricycle while juggling purple bowling pins. Purple Panda can bounce up and down and left to right on his big purple panda belly. To feed his monstrous belly he eats pineapple pizza and drinks purple prune juice. Purple Panda plays ping pong like a pad- dling pro. Purple Panda has many pro abilities to show. Clearly, Purple Panda is pretty cool.
Elora Peterson 3rd Place - 5th Grade The Princess Who Was Born With an Elephant Nose Once upon a time there was a princess who was born with an elephant nose. She was a fairy and the king and queen named her Eleraphant because of her elephant nose. As they day went by Eleraphant’s wings grew and her nose grew. Then her parents told her to fly to ballet. She thought it was a good idea so she tried it. The first week with Ms. Owl was great and no one was there. The third week kids started to come in. Each week Eleraphant got more embarrassed because everyone talked and laughed about her elephant nose. Everyone laughed except Lily Star. She was a blue flower that was kind. Lily told Eleraphant that she was more special than anyone she knew. She felt a lot better. When anyone laughed at her she didn’t mind it. She told them the golden rule. After that she had more friends. Lily Star was Eleraphant’s best friend. She was the one who made her feel better.
Kelby Helzer 1st Place - Middle School Caterpiller These creatures are found far away on a different planet. The planet’s purpose is to house the caterpillers. The caterpillers are an abandoned society. Where they protest saying that things of legs can be cute too. The caterpillers society plans on leaving to expand and spread their cute nature to more planets in their system.
Brooke Bukovsky 2nd Place - Middle School Toast Ghost You put me in the toaster nice and dry but you put the heat up too high and I shot into the sky! But all you care about is buying a toaster, you don’t care about my emotional roller coaster! My real body was lost in the fire but now I can go through 100 wires! I am the Toast Ghost!
Ryan Roybal 3rd Place - Middle School Big Horned Goat Near Long Horn Moat The big horned goat near long horn moat is a very rare animal. Some of the people there say it has horns as strong as the mountains. At some special occasion that goat will bah so loud he can make rivers change direction. His fur is as soft as clouds and golden like the sun.
Jacob Mriglot 1st Place - High School Butler Fishbach Introducing Butler Fishbach, my friend serving pistachios without end. They may lack a bit of salt but it’s not his fault, blame it on the big pistachio business.
