in our Community

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
As I reflect on this most unusual year of challenges, I was heartened by the
depth of caring and generosity coming from our members, sponsors and
other supporters that allowed us to continue our legacy of making
transformational grants to outstanding local nonprofits.
Here are some highlights of what we accomplished as a dedicated team of
women coming together with a shared purpose of helping our community:
• $490,000 in grants awarded to 10 nonprofits
• First time we awarded 6 High Impact Grants at $75,000 each
• Over $4.2 million awarded since 2005
• 580 women stepping up to support our community
• Adjustments to our grant guidelines that acknowledged the new health
and financial stresses nonprofits were facing
• Ability to pivot to virtual operations to keep us all safe during the
pandemic
As a significant funder of grants to local nonprofits, it’s important to us that
the community knows we’re here as an enduring resource. It’s also important
that we spread the word to warmhearted, civic minded women to join us.
The more of us who come together, the bigger the impact we can make.
2021 holds the promise of life slowly returning to normal, but there will still
be many who need help to get through the day and rebuild their lives.
That’s where Impact San Antonio comes in. Let’s stand together in remaining
a critical support to those in need in our community.
Impact San Antonio encourages and empowers women to join together to achieve meaningful
Mission change in the Greater San Antonio area through substantial grants to local nonprofits that
serve our communities.
Our goal is to be San Antonio’s preferred women’s philanthropic organization with 500+ diverse
Vision and engaged members that return year after year to provide significant support for the important
work of nonprofit organizations in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. 2

GRANT FEATURE - PROJECT MEND
Creating Ripples of Positive Change
Providing life-changing opportunities to regain mobility for people of all ages
Ethan Haley is an engaging young man whose smile, easy charm and dedication make
him a standout employee at the world-famous San Antonio Zoo. Ethan, who has
cerebral palsy, was unable to walk the extensive Zoo property when he was hired at the
San Antonio attraction after a year of unemployment. But a power chair provided by
Project MEND has enabled him to extend his work hours, which are spent enriching
the experience of Zoo visitors at the gift shop and at exhibits throughout the grounds.
And, when time allows, Ethan steers his power chair to the giraffe exhibit where
frequent treats have endeared him to some gangly four-legged friends.
Ethan’s story is just one example of the multiplying power of Impact San Antonio's High Impact Grant to Project MEND. Impact
San Antonio awarded a $100,000 grant to Project MEND in 2017, to continue and expand its work reclaiming, reconditioning,
and reusing medical equipment to serve several hundred new clients and improve the quality of life for many more existing clients.
The grant enabled San Antonio-based Project MEND to buy two trucks and a specialized medical equipment sanitizing machine.
With those additional resources, the grant to Project MEND was able to multiply into jobs filled by capable and eager employees,
life-changing and affirming opportunities to regain mobility for people of all ages and relief for families and individuals facing
staggering financial burdens.
Impact SA's grant enabled Project MEND to serve 300 additional clients. That's 300 additional lives changed,

empowered. And that's the real power of Impact SA's giving model. 3
2020 $75,000 HIGH IMPACT GRANT RECIPIENTS
ARTS & CULTURE San Anto Cultural Arts, Inc. - Community Arts in a Virtual World. To fund
SACA online digital programming improving access to youth and adults required to
social distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Create video tutorials, expand podcasts,
hire artists to create new and exciting video/virtual artworks, work with youth on digital
comic book content, and continue to incorporate community input into public artworks.
ARTS & CULTURE Woodlawn Theatre, Inc. - The Show Must Go On. To engage, unify, and inspire
our hurting City through Woodlawn Theatre musical theatre programming and
productions. The grant funds are helping to sustain the artists through the pandemic
and fund productions once it’s safe to resume in-person gatherings.
EDUCATION San Antonio Young Women’s Leadership Academy Foundation -
Laptop Computers for In-School Use. To update the YWLA computer lab equipment
with 309 new laptop computers for in-school use. Computer access will help bridge the
socioeconomic and digital resource gap between many of the YWLA students and those
with whom they compete for college acceptance.
Esperanza Peace and Justice Center - To renovate the building known as
ENVIRONMENT, Ruben’s Ice House to become the Museo del Westside – the city’s first museum dedicated
RECREATION & to celebrating the Westside’s rich Mexican-American history. The Museo will be part of a
PRESERVATION community resource hub and will offer walking tours, traveling exhibitions, research
resources, workshops on cultural and historical themes, film screenings, and interactive
programs. The building itself will be a teaching tool, demonstrating historic preservation
and green construction techniques.
FAMILY Family Service Association of San Antonio, Inc. (dba Family Service) -
San Pedro HVAC Replacement. To replace the San Pedro HVAC system at the main office.
New HVAC units will save Family Service $60,000 annually in HVAC maintenance and
repairs and will be “smart” and far more energy-efficient than existing system.
HEALTH & WELLNESS Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children - Sound Not Silence - Hearing
Technology. To purchase new state-of-the-art hearing technology to expand the inventory
of the loaner program with more devices available, including hearing aids and cochlear
implant processors. This expansion will accommodate growth in the program and serve
babies without access to the program in the spring and summer of 2020 because of
COVID-19 closure.

GRANT PROJECTS COMPLETED IN 2020
High Impact $100,000 Grants
Friends of Government Canyon (2018 High Impact) Government Canyon Outdoor Education
Amphitheater, construction of an outdoor education amphitheater to enhance experience of natural
area through programs for all visitors, especially hundreds of students on school field trips.
SAMMinistries (2018 High Impact) Enriching the Lives of Homeless Children, provided
15-passenger van to transport homeless children living with parents in Transitional Living and Learning
Center to Pre-K 4 SA, enrichment activities, and other locations as well as upgrades to the Teen Center.
San Antonio Clubhouse (2018 High Impact) Project HUG (Hydroponic Urban Growth),
provided turnkey hydroponic farming system to give recovery-oriented volunteer opportunities for
Clubhouse members with mental health challenges.
URBAN-15 (2018 High Impact) Impact Into the Future, complete replacement of HVAC, electrical,
floors, and furnishings in main building. The upgrades will deliver a safer and more functional
environment for decades to come.
Westside Development Corporation (2016 High Impact) La Printeria Printmaking Program
increased educational access to arts programs and workforce development for youth and young adults.

Guardian House (2019 High Impact) Critical Capital Improvements to Enhance Programs will fund roof replacement,
foundation repair, exterior carpentry/wiring/paint, and HVAC to create a safe place for families to heal from trauma and mend
relationships harmed by violence.
House of Neighborly Service (2019 High Impact) Comida y Comunidad – Kitchen Improvements for Westside Neighbors
to replace aging appliances into an enlarged space to allow for the preparation of more meals and distribution of more food boxes
to low-income families.
Musical Bridges Around the World (2019 High Impact) Musical Sprouts expanded cultural and educational programs for
10 Title 1 schools with focus on STEAM programs that build understanding and appreciation of cultural differences.
San Antonio Mennonite Church (2019 High Impact) The Peace Building for renovation of community center, kitchen
renovation and updated bathrooms that will expand service delivery from 100 per week to 1,000 and enable multiple nonprofits
to co-locate and offer synergistic services.
UTSA Alumni Foundation (2019 High Impact) Fostering Success for Students with a History of Foster Care – Early Start
Experience, for incoming and transferring students with a history of foster care to ease transition to college and improve
graduation rates.
The University of Texas Foundation (2019 Support Grant) Carina En Su Casa – Collaboration with House of Neighborly
Services to provide in home health care services to their elderly clients. COVID has delayed full implementation of in-home doctor
visits.
