BIBA Hackathon 2019: The 2018 Winning Ideas
Same again?
Yes, and no. This year’s Hackathon will certainly aim
to recreate the energy, the commitment and the
fabulous range of practical solutions generated by
teams competing against each other, and the clock.
Once again, we’ll be looking for eight teams (around
70 individuals), and we’ll be supporting them with
the best array of data, design, solutions experts, and
tech. There will be some new stuff, too - the
Hackathon will have a new home, moving from the

foyer, and we’ll be offering many more ways for

Customer Insight for Better Cover
Team Spotlight’s Challenge was to develop a
solution to deliver a better understanding of
customers by providing brokers with a data-enriched,
single view of a customer or prospect. Their solution
was to develop an app to draw in data from all
relevant commercial public sources to enable
brokers to work with clients to identify a risk profile,
sums insured and other factors that should influence
the design of an insurance program. One of the
stand-out features was a notification function
alerting the broker to where the client had changed
their sums insured. As a lot of the information was
pre-filled from public source data, this solution
meant that the client and broker had to complete
minimal information, saving time and effort on both
parties for either a new business or renewal
