About Paines Plough

Hello! We’re Paines Plough. We tour celebrated new stories, performing them wherever you
are across the UK.

Founded in 1974, we have worked with over 300 outstanding British playwrights including
James Graham, Sarah Kane, Dennis Kelly, Mike Bartlett, Sam Steiner, Elinor Cook, Vinay
Patel, Zia Ahmed and Kae Tempest.

Our plays are nationally identified and locally heard. As a touring theatre company
dedicated to new writing, we find, develop and empower writers across the country and
share their explosive new stories with audiences all over the UK and beyond.

“The lifeblood of the UK’s theatre ecosystem.”
                                            The Guardian

We tour to over 40 places a year and are committed to bringing work to communities who
might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience much new writing or theatre. We
reach over 30,000 people annually from Cornwall to the Orkney Islands, in village halls and
in our own pop-up theatre Roundabout; a state of the art, in the round auditorium which
travels the length and breadth of the country.

Our shows might appear in your local theatre, park, community centre, market square,
university campus, on the seafront, or online. Our audio app COME TO WHERE I’M FROM
hosts 180 original mini plays about home and our digital projects connect with audiences
via WhatsApp, phone, email and even by post.

Wherever you are you can experience a Paines Plough Production.

“I think some theatre just saved my life.”

Digital Producer Role
The Digital Producer will be responsible for project managing the planning and delivery of a
programme of innovative digital content alongside Paines Plough’s live Productions during
August and enabling the artistic team to reach and engage with new audiences as it
develops its digital strategy for the future.

OUR PLANNED PROGRAMME:
Paines Plough has received funding from the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Cultural
Recovery Fund to build on its digital programme and audience engagement – developing
accessible content to reach and grow audiences for new work.
This summer we plan to deliver a digital programme that will include:
   - Capture of full productions to reach audiences unable to attend, breaking down barriers and
reaching new audiences across the UK and internationally.
   - A young person’s engagement programme that will combine pre and post show digital
content to inspire and engage young people and family groups (ages 5+)
   - A live to digital cooking event alongside our Production of Hungry to encourage participants
to try new recipes, inspired by a community chef.
   - Development of a digital strategy around our autumn production of Sessions by Ifeyinwa
Frederick, including capture and original digital content.
   - Delivering a cast recording of our musical Black Love across streaming platforms.

The ground work for this programme has begun and the Digital Producer will be taking over
