Debbie Scott
                               Rotary 7690 District Governor 2022-2023
                               Debbie was born in Orlando, Florida and graduated from the
                               University of Florida. She moved to North Carolina in 2018 and is a
                               member of the Jonesboro-Sanford Rotary Club. Debbie has been in
                               Rotary since January 1995 and has perfect attendance since the day
                               she joined. Debbie received Rookie Rotarian of the Year award in
                               1995 from her 285 member Gainesville Rotary Club. She held
                               numerous positions in this club and became President in 2000-01.
                               Debbie became Assistant Governor in District 6970 from 2001–03
                               and had the honor to charter two new clubs in Ocala, FL. She also
                               was District 6970 Treasurer in 2003-05.

5475 NC HWY 24-27              Debbie moved to Michigan in 2005 and became Assistant Governor
Cameron, NC 28326              in District 6330 from 2006-08. Debbie then moved back to Florida

debbiebransonscott@gmail.com   2013-14 and Foundation Area Rep from 2014-17. The Trustees of
                               The Rotary Foundation in 2016 bestowed upon Debbie the Citation
                               for Meritorious Service in recognition of her outstanding service to
                               The Rotary Foundation.

                               Debbie is a Major Donor, Paul Harris Society member, Bequest
                               Society member, and Benefactor.

                               Debbie has had the honor of becoming a faculty member of the
                               Zone 33 Mid Atlantic Division Rotary Leadership Institute.

                               Since 1983 Debbie has held an active Florida Real Estate License
                               and was a Multi-Million Dollar Producer. She was voted BEST of
                               BEST Winner for Real Estate agent from 2013-17. Debbie also has
                               her North Carolina Real Estate License as of February 2019 and is a
                               Realtor at Sanford Real Estate. She has a daughter and son-in-law
                               and 2 grandsons here in North Carolina.

                               In her spare time, Debbie enjoys being with her grandsons and
                               family. Debbie also enjoys being with her other half traveling,
                               being outdoors, riding our motorcycle, watching drag races
                               (especially when he is racing) and watching Hallmark Christmas
                               movies.

Van Lankford
                       Rotary 7690 District Governor 2023-2024
                       Van Lankford is a native of North Wilkesboro, NC. He is a graduate of
                       Gardner Webb University, Southeastern Seminary (Master of Divinity),
                       and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, where he earned his
                       Doctor of Ministry degree in 1997.

                       Van served in pastoral ministry for 23 years and served churches in
                       Wadesboro, Dobson, and Mocksville. In 2011, he made a career
                       change and founded the franchise office of Home Instead in Mount
                       Airy, which serves senior adults in Surry and Stokes counties with their
                       activities of daily living.

Van Lankford           Van’s Rotary story began in February 2001 when a neighbor and
171 Stonecroft Road    retired dentist invited him to his first Rotary meeting. Later that year,
Mt. Airy, NC, 27030    he joined the Rotary of Club of Mocksville. He served the Mocksville
                       club in many capacities and in 2010-2011 served the club as President.

                       During his tenure, the Mocksville club became the 13th club in the

                       district to become a Triple Crown club. In July of 2011, when he was
                       starting his new business in Mount Airy, Van joined the Rotary Club of
                       Mount Airy. He served the Mount Airy Club as Foundation Chair, Polio
                       Plus Chair, and in 2014-2015 he served as club President. Van has also
                       been active in District 7690 serving two terms as a Foundation
                       Advocate, the District Conference Committee, and serving Area 1 as an
                       Assistant Governor from 2018 – 2021. He is a Paul Harris Fellow,
                       Sustaining Member, Benefactor, member of the Paul Harris Society,
                       and a Major Donor.

                       Van attends and is active at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Mount Airy.
                       He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Shepherd’s House
                       homeless shelter in Mount Airy, as well as a board member of the
                       Surry County Arts Council. He is also a volunteer with Surry Medical
                       Ministry and Surry County Meals on Wheels.

                       Van and his wife Ann have been married since 1989. Ann is a retired
                       educator and is co-owner of the Mount Airy Home Instead office. They
                       have two grown children. Their daughter Molly is a Registered Nurse
                       and lives in Elkin with her husband Alan, who works for Frito Lay. Their
                       son, Evan, lives in Greensboro and works in automotive digital
                       marketing for Dealer Inspire, and his wife, Jessie, is a School
                       Psychologist with Guilford County Schools. Van is also “Pawpaw” to two
                       granddaughters, Savannah Brooke Hudson and Allie Kate Hudson.

                       In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and traveling.

Ron Pierce
                                     Rotary 7690 District Governor 2024-2025
                                     Ron was born in Rocky Mount, NC and lived there until he attended
                                     and graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a degree in
                                     Religious Education. A licensed minister and former part-time
                                     youth pastor for churches in Siler City and Denton, NC, Ron felt his
                                     calling to serve others more while working in corporate America.
                                     Holding positions in Information Technology ranging from an
                                     instructor, database & network administrator to Help Desk
                                     manager, Ron had the opportunity to start his own IT Managed
                                     Services company, Trinity Solutions, Inc., in 2003.

                                     In 2010, after many years of business networking, Ron joined the
                                     Guilford Rotary Club looking for networking opportunities and

                                     Ron is a Paul Harris Fellow as well as Paul Harris Society member.
                                     He is also a supporter of the Polio Plus Promise Initiative. He has
                                     served on the Member Attraction committee, District Annual
                                     Fundraising committee as well as spoken in several Club, District &
                                     Zone meetings & trainings about ways to reach people with the
                                     message of Rotary.

                                     Ron has been married for over 18 years to his lovely wife, Wendy,
                                     and they have a “mini-Brady Bunch” consisting of 3 Boys and 1 girl
                                     with one of the boys being married and bringing the first
                                     grandbaby in September 2021. Living in Climax, NC, they are also
                                     very devoted to animal rescue and personally have 9 cats and 1
                                     dog (all rescues) which they consider as their “other kids.”

Vision 22-23: District Achievement Awards
Rotary’s Vision: “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to make lasting change…. across
the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.”

Clubs may qualify to be recognized for notable achievement, based on the number of total points attained during the
2022-23 Rotary year. Clubs must achieve ALL mandatory requirements in each category to qualify for
Platinum or Gold medalist. Clubs must complete AT LEAST 7 mandatory goals to qualify for Silver and
Bronze medalist. The achievement categories are as follows:

Platinum Medal:                         450 or more points
Gold Medal:                             370 to 449 points
Silver Medal:                           290 to 369 points
Bronze Medal:                           210 to 289 points

Rotary Presidential Citation 2022-2023: Rotary can automatically verify many of your club’s achievements by keeping your
club and member information up to date in Rotary Club Central. To be eligible for the Rotary Citation, clubs need to begin the
year as active clubs that are in good standing and remain so throughout the year. Go to www.Rotary.org - My Rotary - Rotary
Club Central to see Rotary Presidential Citation guidelines for specific details on how to qualify for recognition.

Membership:

   Mandatory - 10 Points: Club Membership Chair or Membership committee member plus one club member who
    has never attended a membership summit attend 2022 Membership Summit in August 2022 (or if rescheduled,
    whenever scheduled).
   Mandatory - 5 Points: Appoint an active club membership committee of 3-5 members and enter the chair in Rotary
    Club Central by May 15, 2022.
   Mandatory - 5 Points: Enter Membership goals in Rotary Club Central by May 15, 2022.
   15 Points: Increase club membership by net +5 by April 1, 2023 (Membership increase is based on active
    membership on July 1, 2022.
   20 Points: Sponsor/co-sponsor a new club or new satellite club by April 1, 2023.
   10 Points: Conduct 2 new member orientation programs (extra 5 points with an AG present at 1 orientation).
   5 Points: Club improves member retention rate by 1 percentage point or achieves/maintains membership retention
    of 90% or higher.
   5 Points: To encourage diversity, club achieves a net 1 gain in one of the following categories: female members,
    members under the age of 40, members of any minority population.
   5 Points: Club holds Discover Rotary programs at least 3 times per year (separately or partnering with another club)
    to introduce new prospects to Rotary.
   5 Points: Engage all new members participation on a specific committee, subcommittee, club project or leadership
    role within 6 months of induction.
   5 Points (up to 15 points): Send and pay for ½ the registration for new members to attend RLI Part 1 in person.
   5 Points: Club initiates exit survey for terminated members and share surveys with the AG and DG.

 5 Points: Club nominates a Rotary Peace Fellow candidate in 2022.

 5 Points: Contribute at least $100 per capita to the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation by April 1, 2023.

  and DACdb by 12/31/2022.
 10 Points: Club Board composition consists of at least 1 new member who has never served on the Board and no
  committee consists of only 1 person.
 10 Points: Club sends at least two potential leadership members to RLI class Part II or III by April 1, 2023.
 10 Points: At least 4 club members attend District Training Assembly in 2022, including President & Pres. Elect.
 5 Points: President-Elect and President-Nominee both attend PETS 2023.

Youth Service:

 20 Points: Recruit family to host an Inbound Exchange student for 2022-23 or 2023-24.
 15 Points: Sponsor a Four-Way-Test speaker at the annual district competition in February 2023.

 10 Points: Sponsor an Outbound Youth Exchange Student candidate who applies by deadline
  (2 students for 20 points).
 10 Points: Sponsor a student for RYLA in summer of 2023.

How to Earn a Rotary Citation
Your Rotary, Rotaract, or Interact club can earn a Rotary Citation for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and your club.
Goals include increasing club membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and
building awareness of Rotary in your community.

Citation for Rotary Clubs
Citation goals can be found in Rotary Club Central. To achieve the Rotary Citation, review the 25 available goals, select at
least 13, achieve those goals, then report your achievement in Rotary Club Central.

All activities need to be completed by 30 June.

Citation for Rotaract Clubs
Rotaract clubs that achieve the Rotaract goals by the end of the Rotary year will earn a citation.

Only Rotaract clubs that are listed as active in Rotary International’s database can earn the citation. To confirm that a club
is active, Rotarians can check the Listing of Club‐Sponsored Organizations in Rotary Club Central.

All activities need to be completed by 15 August.

The Rotaract club president or Rotary sponsor club president can nominate a Rotaract club by completing the online
nomination form for the citation by 15 August. Only one nomination should be submitted for any given Rotaract club.

Citation for Interact Clubs
Interact clubs that achieve the Interact goals by the end of the Rotary year will earn a citation.

Only Interact clubs that are listed as active in Rotary International’s database can earn the citation. To confirm that a club
is active, Rotarians can check the Listing of Club‐Sponsored Organizations in Rotary Club Central.

All activities need to be completed by 15 August.

The sponsor Rotary club’s president completes the online nomination form for the citation by 15 August. For Interact clubs
with more than one sponsor club, only one nomination should be submitted for any given Interact club.

Success leading your Rotary club is determined long before you are sworn in as President. The most difficult part of
the process is the six months before installation. Begin the planning process now and you will be better prepared to
implement the activities and assignments during that period without being overwhelmed. This is a general outline you
can tailor to the practices of your Club and your own goals and objectives.

January 2022 (6 months): Vocational Service Month
 Meet with your Area Governor, President, Foundation and Membership Chairs to review the mid-year progress
   towards the club’s goals and objectives. Check club progress on achieving the Vision 2022: District Achievement
   Award and Presidential Citation.
 Review with your President the club’s current budget.
 Work on your draft calendar and Club Goals for your year.
 Make sure you know how to access and use the District Database and RI’s Rotary Club Central (My Rotary).
 Register for PETS, March 17-19 at Sheraton/Koury Convention Center. (Must attend PETS and should bring
   President Nominee as well) Notify DGE Debbie Scott if you are unable to attend Carolina’s PETS & then make
   arrangements to attend an out-of-district PETS session.
 Register through District Database to attend the virtual combined sessions of Pre-PETS & Grants Management
   Training on February 5th.

February 2022 (5 months): Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month
 District Leadership Training (for Area Governors) February 4th and 5th, to be held at LOCATION
 Register & Attend Pre-PETS & Grants Management Training February 5th. President Elect or Foundation
   committee member and at least one other club member (preferably one who has never attended attends Grants
   Management Training) must attend this session for club to be qualified for District & Global Grant participation
   in 2022-2023.
 If you have not already, Register for PETS, March 17-19 (Must attend PETS and should bring President Nominee
   as well). Notify DGE Debbie Scott if you are unable to attend Carolina’s PETS & then make arrangements to
   attend an out-of-district PETS session.

March 2022 (4 months): Water and Sanitation Month
 Attend PETS, March 17-19 at Sheraton/Koury Convention Center, Greensboro.
 Meet with your new board to finalize committee assignments, budget, projects, and calendar.
 Submit Club Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by March 31.
 Club Membership chair or Membership Committee member plus one more club member register by April 21,
  2022 for the District 7690 Membership Summit 2022 in August 2022 (date & location TBD).

April 2022 (3 months): Maternal and Child Health Month
 Register through DACdb to attend the District Training Assembly event on May 14.
 Attend District Conference, April 29-May 1, Hilton Kingston Plantation, Myrtle Beach, SC.
 Finalize committee assignments, budget, goals, and calendar with your new board.
 Determine your District Grant and/or Global Grant projects for 2022-2023 and ensure applications are in process.

 Hold a Club Assembly prior to taking office on July 1. Review Club Goals with your membership and ensure Club

June 2022 (1 month): Rotary Fellowships Month
 Attend Rotary International Convention June 3-9, Houston, TX.
 Promote, Register & Attend District Officer Installation in June, date & location TBD. Encourage club members to
  attend as well.
 Ensure contributions for the year for each member have been submitted to the RI Foundation. (Should have been
  submitted for all by May unless a new member has been added in June).
 Hold a Club Officer Installation event to install club officers.

July 2022: CONGRATULATIONS!! READ DISTRICT NEWSLETTER
 Congratulations you are now President!
 Remind club members of the club’s official visit from the Governor.
 Submit dues to RI & to District 7690.
 Ensure club officers and committee chair positions are to Phil Morris for entry into District Database by July 15 and
   member information is current – this is a critical necessity to promote timely communication to club chairs and officers
   from RI and the district.
 Ensure Service Goals are entered in Rotary Club Central by July 31.

August 2022: Membership and Extension Month
 Review your “Club Membership Growth Plan” for 2022 that was developed at the Membership Summit 2022 and adjust
  strategies to continue member engagement, retention and attraction efforts. Communicate plans with the President Elect.
  Also share plan modifications with Area Governor and District Governor.
 Encourage club golfers to enter the District Golf Tournament October 20, 2022, location Carolina Trace.
 Club Membership chair or Membership Committee member plus one more club member attends the District 7690


September 2022: Basic Education and Literacy Month

October 2022: Economic and Community Development Month
 Promote the District Golf Tournament October 20, 2022, location Carolina Trace.
 Follow-up with Club Nominating Committee to ensure candidates are considered for next year’s officer slate.
 Join PHS and attend Paul Harris Society Dinner
 Promote registration for the District Foundation Banquet in November
 Ensure club has a Foundation program planned for at least one meeting in November
 Participate in World’s Greatest Meal event to raise funds for Polio Plus the week of October 24th

   to be held March 16-18, 2023 at the Sheraton, Greensboro. (PE Must attend PETS and is encouraged to bring President
   Nominee as well) Notify DGE if PE is unable to attend & arrange for him/her to attend an out-of-district PETS session.

November 2022: Rotary Foundation Month
 Encourage club members and spouses to attend the annual Rotary Foundation Banquet in November.
 Review club’s foundation report with the club Foundation Chair. Ensure contributions are being submitted to
   The Rotary Foundation in a timely manner.
 Hold a club meeting on a Foundation topic.
 Consider early registration and promote the International Convention to be held in Melbourne, Australia, June, 2023.
 Promote achieving and maintaining the Triple Crown Club status.
 Promote club members’ attendance at the District Conference in Charlotte, NC April 29 – May 1, 2023 & seek at
   least one club sponsor to help support the House of Friendship receptions and displays.

December 2022: Disease and Prevention Month
 Hold elections for officers and board members, with the results reported to RI by December 31, through Rotary
   Club Central.
 Submit all member and club Foundation funds collected since July to The Foundation by December 31.
 Promote club members’ attendance at the District Conference in Charlotte, NC April 29 – May 1, 2023.
 If pursuing recognitions, check in with Committee Chairs on District Achievement Award and Presidential Citation
   criteria progress.
 Ensure Club Youth Services Committee Chair is promoting RYLA applications and the Rotary Four Way Speech
   Contest to the area High Schools.

January 2023: Vocational Service Month
 Review mid-year progress towards the club’s goals and objectives.
 Continue to monitor club’s progress on achieving the District Achievement Award and Presidential Citation.
 Promote club members’ attendance at the District Conference in Charlotte, NC April 29 – May 1, 2023. Be the first
   to register!
 Ensure RI dues are paid.

 Register & Attend Pre-PETS & Grants Management Training. President Elect or Foundation committee member and
   at least one other club member (preferably one who has never attended attends Grants Management Training) must
   attend this session for club to be qualified for District & Global Grant participation in 2023-2024.
 Register to attend the District Conference, April 29-May 1, in Charlotte, NC and promote and encourage registration
   to club members.
 Support student’s entry in 4-Way Speech Contest, TBD.
 Meet with your board to finalize submission of District Achievement Award and Presidential Citation documentation.

March 2023: Water and Sanitation Month
 Ensure Submission of application for District Achievement Award and Presidential Citation by deadline.
 Ensure PE & PN attend PETS, March 16-18, 2023 at the Sheraton in Greensboro.
 Register to attend the District Conference, April 29-May 1, in Charlotte, NC and promote and encourage registration
  to club members.
