UK rental company Star Platforms has added a new depot in
Bridgwater, Somerset and appointed access veteran Andy Pearson as

Plymouth and South Devon Freeport will boost jobs and opportunity
One of just eight locations in England selected, the freeport in Plymouth
will help create jobs and spark 'growth and innovation' across the city
and the wider South West region. Up to 1,000 new jobs could be
created in the first two years and up to 9,000 over the next 10 years
and 50 new apprenticeships and 10 internships every year by 2027.

Swindon Tech Firm acquired by BAE Systems
A Swindon-based manufacturer of high-end electronics has been
acquired by BAE Systems, in a deal worth around £20 million.Pulse
Power and Measurement, which is headquartered in Shrivenham,
produces technology that allows radio frequency signals to be
transmitted over fibre optic cables. PPM will become a wholly-owned
subsidiary of BAE Systems, retaining the name of Pulse Power &
Measurement Limited. The firm operates across the defence,
cybersecurity and aerospace sectors and employs 60 people. Read

Nationwide strikes partnership with Swindon Institute of Technology to
deliver apprenticeships
Building society Nationwide has started taking applications for its first
apprenticeships in partnership with Swindon’s new Institute of
Technology. The Swindon-based society is recruiting apprentice roles in
a range of tech-related areas including cybersecurity, software
development and DevOps, offering more opportunities for people to

Marine-i supporting a world first
Marine-i has agreed to support marine engineering specialist, Feritech
Global, in its plan to create the world’s first autonomous subsea vehicle
specially designed for geotechnical survey work. Such a design would
result in safer, more efficient and cost-effective seabed survey

A £23,717 investment from BIG Productivity has allowed Truro-based
Grinding Solutions to purchase equipment that will help the company
grow and expand its services.

A Cornish engineering company is set to open a new state-of-the-art
manufacturing facility on a three-acre site just outside Falmouth this

Economy Minister Ken Skates has congratulated Newtown-based
electronics firm Control Techniques after it moved all production from
China to its primary manufacturing site in Wales and created 44 new

The Welsh Government is providing £6m to support WEPA UK’s
expansion plans, which will see 54 new jobs created and hundreds

£16m refinancing to support Mamhilad Park Estate
PONTYPOOL-BASED property development and investment business
Johnsey Estates has raised £16 million to refinance previous debt
facilities and provide working capital for the company’s key
development sites, including Mamhilad Park Estate. Read more
Thousands of new construction jobs needed for Wales to achieve net zero
emissions target
The construction industry will need to create 12,000 jobs by 2028 if
the Welsh Government’s target of net zero emissions is to be achieved
by 2050. According to a report from the Construction Industry Training
Board (CITB) these jobs across Wales will need to be found through a
mix of new skilled jobs, increased efficiencies in existing roles and
innovation in how the industry decarbonises the built environment.

Haven creating 5,000 jobs as parks prepare for reopen for 2021 holiday
season
Holiday firm Haven has announced 5,000 job opportunities throughout
England, Scotland and Wales as the company prepares to re-open its
parks for 2021. Roles will be available across all of Haven’s 37 UK
holiday parks on both full and part-time contracts and cover a range of
functions such as leisure, catering, cleaning and security.

private equity firm
A fast-growing bakery has secured an investment deal to fuel major
expansion plans which will create 115 new jobs. The owners of the
family-run Village Bakery are being backed by Limerston Capital, a UK
private equity firm that invests in ambitious, medium-sized businesses.

Trainee Financial Advisor, 2 year programme UK Wide
Our two-year training programme is designed specifically for
individuals who are new to the finance sector or for those who
have worked in the sector, but not in an advisory capacity.
The programme begins with the Foundation stage, which is six
months of remote learning, followed by a period of training in the
field. From day one of your training and after you leave the
Academy programme, you will be supported by a Development
Manager and a mentor.
During the Foundation stage, there is a financial package in place
to support you, and once you qualify at the end of that period,
you can start earning an income as you work with clients. You will
be supervised and supported by your Development Manager and
the Academy team for the following 18 month period to help you
achieve graduation. We are now recruiting for May 2021 onwards.

exciting career in Civil Engineering?
As a Trainee Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in helping CityFibre
to achieve our mission of delivering full fibre to up to 8 million homes
and businesses across the UK. You could be responsible for excavating
and/or reinstating in the highways to install new duct work and
chambers which houses our fibre. You will work for one of our Build
Partners as part of a team to ensure both excavation and
reinstatement is carried out with a high level of quality and precision
whilst maintaining all Health, Safety and Compliance regulations.
The training
This is a fully funded 2-week training course split out over a period of
two separate week blocks. The first week of training will be delivered
to assist you with your entry into the telecoms/fibre industry. At the
end of your training, you’ll get a job interview with one of the Build
Partners and, if successful, you’ll be invited to a further week of
training. This course is an unpaid, free of charge offering from
CityFibre and you must be able to commit to attending the full initial
week and be open to a role on the CityFibre network upon successful
completion of training.
