EVENT OVERVIEW
Welcome to the Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half

the rest of the country is dealing with the winter, we enjoy sunny
  weather in the mid 70s!

The course features miles of unobstructed ocean views. We run
along State Road A1A, hence the name of our event. In addition to
our renowned beachfront course we are also know for our signature

The 2021 Marathon & Half Marathon will Start & Finish from
                               The Beach Parking Lot

If you are a veteran of the Publix FTL A1A Marathon & Half Marathon, you are familiar
with our signature Finish on Fort Lauderdale Beach. For 2021, we have redesigned the
Marathon & Half Marathon course to Start & Finish from the Beach Parking Lot location
This was done primarily for Safety measures to remove the need for Shuttle Buses to
and from the Start/Finish.

A Staggered and Distanced Start will be employed for everyone’s Safety. The Parking
Lot will be used to spread everyone out in a long and distanced Line. For Reference, the
link below will take you to a map of the Start. The Green Circle at the top of the map
signifies the end of the Line of participants. Runners will be lining up along the red line,
gradually moving their way towards the Red Circle, which is the Start. 20 runners at a
time will line up distanced in the Start Corral and sent off every 10 seconds. We hope to
have all participants out of the Start area by 6:45am.

Cleaning & Hygiene:
The Event will be following all CDC Guidelines

Enhanced cleaning: We will undertake enhanced, deep cleaning before, during, and after
each day’s event to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This includes
complete overnight disinfection, electrostatic sprayers with EPAbiodegradable
disinfectants, and continuous sanitation throughout the course of an event, with a focus on
high-touch, restrooms, and food and beverage areas.

1.Personal hygiene: Hygiene hosts as well as additional hand washing facilities and hand
sanitizing stations throughout the start/finish line, encouraging all participants to regularly
wash and disinfect their hands when not running.

Physical Distancing
2. Non-contact registration: All events will employ a system that facilitates non-contact
registration for participants, including the availability of online registration.

3. Physical contact: We request that participants avoid physical contact, such as
handshakes and embraces, promoting alternative ways to greet each other.

4. Physical distancing: We will maintain a density of participants in line with local authority
regulations and USATF (United States Track & Field) guidance. This will be managed
through one or more control measures such as pre-race communications to participants, a
Guest Circulation path that maintains social distancing traffic system around the event site,
onsite signage and floor markings, and onsite social distance ambassadors. The 2021
Marathon & Half Marathon event will be restricted to 50% of normal race capacity at 3,500
participants. The Start will feature small “waves” of 20 distanced runners at a time. Each
Wave will be separated by a 10 second interval. We will begin promptly at 5:45am with a
target of 6:45am for the final group to leave the Start area.

5.Food and beverage stations: Event teams will work to employ the highest standard
of food safety, minimizing self-service food in favor of pre-packaged food options and
disposable pre-packaged utensils. If any queuing is anticipated, social distancing will be
maintained through the use of floor markings and relevant signage.

                                                                                                  3
