Let’s have an adventure together!
In the Easter, Whitsun, summer and autumn holidays and over Christmas,
more than 20 trained holiday childminders provide for a unique programme
of children’s activities in the Black Forest Highlands. Whether it’s pirates’
day, a visit to the farm, engraving pumpkins, creative arts and crafts or an
adventure walk with the whole family – there’s something for everyone!
When taking part in the children’s programme for the first time, each child is
given his or her own Kucky name badge with a club ID for collecting stickers.
The club IDs are also available at the Tourist Information Centres in the
Black Forest Highlands. Each time a child takes part in the children’s pro-
gramme with the Kucky team they get a sticker which they fasten to their
club ID. The stickers are also available to collect at some of the family-friend-
ly restaurants, at the Feldberg Cable Car and at the Schwarzwaldhaus der
Sinne (Black Forest adventure museum for children).
Once five stickers have been gathered, a small gift can be collected at one
of the Tourist Information Centres in the Black Forest Highlands. It is also
possible to take part in the annual raffle with great prizes. – So have fun
collecting!

Out and about Cycle tours for families
with your two-wheeled steed! Cycle cosily around the lake!
Lake Schluchsee is a great place to be in summer temperatures. A complete
Cycling is great fun! Especially in the Black Forest Highlands, as a cycling tour circuit of the lake is an 18 km trip. Between times, you can put your feet into

Railway cycle path – from Neustadt to Bonndorf
This almost flat cycle path leads along the historical railway line from
Neustadt via Lenzkirch to Bonndorf through the idyllic scenery of the Black
Forest Highlands. Far away from the busy roads, there are stunning views
and remnants of the railway service to be admired. This trail is suitable for
both leisure and professional-level sports cyclists, and is especially suited
to families. The complete route asks a lot of children’s legs however, being
27 km in length. The railway cycle path flyer is available at the Tourist
Information Centres.
By bike on the “Todtnauerli” cycle path
The “Todtnauerli” cycle path runs along the Wiese, a little river that has
its source on the Feldberg Mountain. Cyclists can ride from Todtnau as far
as Basel, which is 60 km away, on traffic-free paths through a diversely
rich landscape. For young cyclists, there is a wonderful playground with
barbecue area after about 6 km in Utzenfeld, 3 km
before Schönau.

Did you forget your bike or there was no room in the
car? Numerous hire outlets offer families bikes and
accessories for a cycling tour. You can find up-to-date

Animal encounters for children
In the Black Forest Highlands there is a very wide range of animal adven-
tures to experience in the framework of the children’s programme. It is not
uncommon to find animals that you wouldn’t expect in the Black Forest
Highlands, such as lamas, tigers, lions and bisons. In the Black Forest

Highlands, visitors can get to know and pet local animals and watch wild
carnivores being fed.
You can of course find our local animals, like cows, horses, pigs, dogs and
cats, at the farms and stables. The farms open their stable doors as part of
the children’s programme. Here, you can watch a farmer at work, help the
bee-keeper make honey, or lend a hand on the farm. A tour of the farm or Tatzmania
walk together with the huskies or llamas is a great experience for the whole
family.

a lot of exciting things to discover, observe, determine and explore here.
Equipped with a compass, a cup magnifying glass, a torch, a scoop net,
binoculars and a treasure bag, the nature explorer’s rucksack can be hired
for a €5 hire fee (€50 deposit) at all Tourist Information Centres in the Black
Forest Highlands. With the nature explorer’s rucksack, each child receives his
or her very own nature explorer book with explorer rules, an explorer profile
and brilliant forest games. So get your binoculars out, torch on, and cup
magnifying glass at the ready, as you never know what you will find!

We are very proud about the award that the Black Forest Highlands have
received from our umbrella organisation, Tourismus Marketing GmbH
Baden-Württemberg, for three years. Together with 22 hosts, nine villages,
four restaurant businesses and two service partners, the Badeparadies
Schwarzwald and the Schwarzwaldhaus der Sinne, we have met the require-
ments and passed this quality test. The Black Forest Highlands present
themselves as the largest family-friendly region in Baden-Württemberg. The
