through New England and the Hudson Valley.
This undiscovered tour appropriately kicks off in Boston and nearby Lexington, the
“Birthplace of American Liberty,” where the opening shots of the Battles of Lexington and
Concord were fired in 1775. Digest the fascinating history of the American Revolution before

a pin drop as you visit the storied city of Salem and head toward the peaceful vistas of coastal
Maine, rural New Hampshire, and mountainous Vermont. Charming seaport villages, bucolic
covered bridges, and rolling maple syrup farms sweeten the storylines across America’s historic
East Coast. Swirl and sip at Vermont’s sustainable Shelburne Vineyard, enjoy a lighthouse-
keeper presentation in Portland, Maine, and learn why everyone’s eyes light up upon tasting
              Freeport’s famous Whoopie Pie.
The plot thickens as you ferry across Lake Champlain to immerse yourself in the scene
stealers of New York and Massachusetts, including the resort village and Olympic Games site
of Lake Placid, the picturesque Berkshire Mountains, and the orchard- and vineyard dotted
riverbanks of the quaint Hudson Valley. You’ll have time to explore the legendary sights of
timeless Tarrytown, the setting of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and tour

ON THIS UNDISCOVERED SOUTHERN U.S. TOUR,
YOU’LL TRAIPSE DOWN THE COUNTRY ROADS AND
HISTORIC TRAILS OF SEVEN SCENIC STATES

A ll together now—Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Given that you’ve been tapping your toes and belting out the wistful words of this regional
anthem for decades, don’t you think it’s time to see the legendary lanes and landscapes that
inspired it? Journey through the Virginias, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland, and
Pennsylvania—with time to explore the treasures of America’s capital.
Prepare to embrace the blues as you crest the Blue Ridge Mountains into Shenandoah
National Park, drink in the equestrian beauty (and bourbon!) of the Bluegrass State, ascend into
the blue haze of the Great Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg, and journey along a portion of
the scenery-rich Blue Ridge Parkway, a 470-mile route from the Great Smokies to Shenandoah
               without a single traffic light.
As you make your way through colourful mountain regions, historically significant towns,
and Civil War battlefields, you’ll follow in the footsteps of colonists, presidents, soldiers, and
some of America’s greatest industrialists and entrepreneurs. See Colonial Williamsburg, the
hallowed Gettysburg Battlefield, Asheville’s grand Biltmore Estate, and the sprawling Virginia
plantations Presidents Washington and Jefferson called home.
Yet some of the bigger experiences on this tour come in small packages, like a visit to
Lincoln’s birthplace, Colonel Sanders’ original fried chicken restaurant, the “Smokeless Coal
Capital” of Beckley, and Andy Griffith’s hometown of Mount Airy, the inspiration for the
make-believe town of Mayberry on his popular television show. Get ready to whistle your way
through the wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as the small towns and significant
cities of the historic South, on this harmonious journey through the U.S. South.
