We are thrilled that you have decided to make our university your home away
from home for the next years of your life. You are about to join a community of
engaged, thoughtful young leaders who care about the world around them and
work hard to make it a better place. We are excited about the passions and
talents you’re bringing to our university community!
This booklet contains helpful information as you make the transition from
high school to university student. It includes details on how to set up your StFX
email account, register for courses, and most importantly, how to embark on a
pathway to success during your first few weeks at StFX. Please read it carefully
and take note of key dates and details that apply to you.
When you arrive on campus this September, know that every single staff and
faculty member at StFX wants you to succeed. We are here to help you meet
your academic and personal goals, and our doors are always open to you if you
need assistance. You are not just coming to school at StFX; you are joining a
community!

On behalf of the StFX Students’ Union, I would like to welcome you to the StFX
community. This community is like no other; it is a place that offers opportunities
for all, no matter what piques your interest. You will likely find these next years
to be the most challenging and rewarding years of your life thus far. You will
make friends that last a lifetime, have experiences that no one but your fellow
Xaverians have experienced, and be consistently encouraged to become the
best version of yourself. The StFX community is here to provide you with the
foundation to build your home and the support you need to make it look exactly
the way you want. That being said, the key to finding your home is being you. If
you are true to yourself, this community will help you build a unique, strong, and
beautiful home through the stories you share with your fellow Xaverians and the
opportunities you take together.
So to our newest Xaverians: be yourself, collaborate with others, build others
up, take chances, pursue opportunities and allow this community to empower
you. The Students’ Union is here as your resource while you build your home.
We are here to help you get the most out of the foundation built by the StFX
community, and we are very excited to continue to build with you.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
1. Off the TransCanada Highway 104, take exit 32 and follow the signs to Antigonish.
2. Drive through a set of lights to West Street, and then take your first right (at the next set
of lights) onto Convocation Boulevard
3. Follow the signs for parking, and then head to the Charles V. Keating Centre (see map
on back cover) where your adventure will begin!
TRANSIT
Maritime Bus (www.maritimebus.com) provides transportation from Halifax Stanfield International
Airport to Bloomfield Centre (Students’ Union Building) on campus. Please check their online
schedule as bus routes are subject to change.
FAMILY STAYING OVER?
Families dropping off students can find a list of accommodations at www.visitantigonish.ca/stay.
Book your hotel early! There are also a number of restaurants in town, from fine dining estab-
lishments to casual food outlets.

It’s finally here! New students should arrive any time after 7:00 am. You’ll be greeted by
enthusiastic students and staff who will help guide you through this special day!
Start at the Charles V. Keating Centre (see map on back cover) where you will:
• Start the day right with a delicious continental breakfast!
• Pick up your student ID card. Please bring a photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, passport)
• If you’re living on campus, pick up your residence key at the University Housing booth.
• Get answers to questions related to tuition, fees and due dates. You can also make a
payment on your student account at the Business Office station.
• Pick up your schedule for Academic Day, Monday, September 2.
• Visit the Orientation Showcase, with information on over 30 student services and activities
• Pick up your Students’ Union Orientation Kit
• Take a campus tour
• Encourage your family to attend the Parents’ Orientation session, upstairs in the Keating Centre
MOVING INTO RESIDENCE
After you pick up your key at the Charles V. Keating Centre (University Housing booth), you can move
into your residence room! The University Housing team will be able to answer any questions you
have.

TRAMBLE CENTRE FOR ACCESSIBLE LEARNING

StFX honours all students’ spirituality and beliefs with respect and dignity. We offer a prayer space

StFX is a beacon for the arts. Catch a live show with the latest indie bands or the best in jazz
and classical music. The campus art gallery features regular exhibits and special events, including
book launches and photography shows. The StFX campus is also home to Theatre Antigonish,
which has been delighting audiences since 1974.
RECREATION, CLUB SPORTS & INTRAMURALS
Your student ID card is your pass to StFX recreation facilities and programs, including daily
activities such as swimming, skating, basketball and racquet sports – to name a few. It’s also
your membership card for the StFX campus fitness centre.
Our recreation department offers competitive sports clubs for curling, badminton, cheerleading,
ultimate Frisbee, equestrian, dance, rowing, swimming, men’s baseball, men’s lacrosse, men’s
rugby, and women’s field hockey. We also organize intramurals, giving students the opportunity to
take part in team and individual sports through a variety of campus leagues and tournaments.

VARSITY ATHLETICS
The StFX Athletics Department represents 12 teams participating in Atlantic University Sport
(AUS) competition. We regularly host AUS games and encourage all students to come out and

Tuition and residence fees can be paid in two installments. First term payment is 65% of all
fees and is due by September 15, 2019, with the remainder due by January 15, 2020. You are
encouraged to pay first-term fees before arriving (or while at) Welcome Day on August 31, 2019.
