  Isaiah 41:17

[Jesus said,] “Go and make disciples of all nations,

with you always, to the very end of the age.”

numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than

because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
  But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
  Though one may be overpowered,
      two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will
  not overcome it.”
  M at t h e w 1 6 : 1 8

[The believers] devoted themselves to the apostles’
teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the
many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
All the believers were together and had everything in
common. They sold property and possessions to give
to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to
meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread
in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere
hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the
people. And the Lord added to their number daily
  those who were being saved.
  Acts 2:42-47

Compassion
The Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass

  I will have compassion.”

comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we
can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
  ourselves receive from God.
  2 Corinthians 1:3-4

As you know, we count as blessed those who have
persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and
have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord
is full of compassion and mercy.
  James 5:11

Eternity

for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

given us understanding, so that we may know him who
is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his
Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
  1 John 5:20

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to
the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give
the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the
  paradise of God.
  R e v e l at i o n 2 : 7

Fulfillment
God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
  Numbers 23:19

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,

appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find
satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun
during the few days of life God has given them—for
 this is their lot.
 Ecclesiastes 5:18

Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
 Isaiah 55:2

 The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched
        land
    and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
 Isaiah 58:11

       fathomed,
   miracles that cannot be counted.

 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.

Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he
        pronounced.

  How great are his signs,
     how mighty his wonders!

on earth. And I will provide a place for my people Israel
and will plant them so that they can have a home of
their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people
will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the
P romises from the S criptures

beginning and have done ever since the time I appointed
leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your
enemies.
“I declare to you that the Lord will build a house
for you.”
1 Chronicles 17:8-10

You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.
Psalm 18:36

[God’s Word, as revealed to Jeremiah:] “[Jerusalem] will
bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations
on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and
they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant
prosperity and peace I provide for it.”
Jeremiah 33:9

[Barnabas and Paul said,] “[God] has not left himself
without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you
rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides
you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”
Acts 14:17

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned
through that one man, how much more will those who
receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift
of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus
Christ!
Romans 5:17
Command those who are rich in this present world not
to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is
so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly
provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

CHAPTER 5: BREAD, FISH, AND A BOY
 1. Of the four Gospel accounts of this event, two mention the monetary cost of
feeding five thousand people. Neither identifies an exact amount (see Mark
6:37 and John 6:7). Eight months’ wages is used here for the purpose of the
    following illustration.
 2. John 21:11 numbers the fish caught in the net at 153. This was as much as
the net could handle. With nearly fifteen thousand to feed, it would require
gathering one hundred similar nets full of fish for one fish per person.
