             • Private powered vessels are prohibited from the Nitmiluk Gorge system from 1 June to 31 August. At other
               times, except when the river is closed due to wet season flooding, private vessels may be used in the first gorge.
             • Vessels must be registered
             • A Nitmiluk National Park fee paid at the Nitmiluk Centre before launching.
             • Vessel restrictions and speed limits apply. Private vessels must be less than 4 metres long with a maximum
               15hp motor. The speed limit is seven nautical miles/hour.
             • Fishing is permitted with lures only (no bait - to avoid accidental capture of turtles)

             Barranyi (North Island) - Other information and access
             • Access restricted to Paradise Bay Camping Area, beach, loop walking track and the camping area at Mud Bay.
             • Visitors are asked to remain in their boats in all other areas of the park. There are numerous sacred areas within
               the Park and due to surrounding reefs and strong swells and currents, many of the beaches are treacherous for
               landing.
             • Check weather conditions before setting out – moderate to strong south easterly winds prevail during the Dry
               season, making the shallow waters of the Gulf very rough.
             • Cyclones and regular storms are a feature of the Wet season when north westerly winds prevail
             • Register with the Borroloola Boat and Fishing Club before departing for Barranyi National Park, or advise a
               reliable person of your expected time of return
             • Prepare yourself for extremely remote conditions. Be self-sufficient. Use the Responsible Fishing and Boating
               Checklist below.
             • The Fisheries Act applies for all waters surrounding the island. On the island itself both the TPWC Act and the
               Fisheries Act apply

                    • Powered vessels may have a maximum power output of 15 hp, are restricted to a speed of 5 knots and must be
                      no longer than 3.6 metres in length.
