Often referred to as the “Pearl of the Ardennes,”

this Belgian mountain town is where the word 44
spa comes from. Famed for its multiple natural Circuit Length
7.004km
mineral springs, the town is home to Europe’s
original health resort – it’s in the name!
A trip to Spa is not complete without visiting its hot springs and mineral
waters, the perfect antidote to a weekend of action-packed racing. A
neoclassic marvel for incoming tourists is the Casino de Spa. For those
who fancy a flutter, this is still a very much functioning casino, so bring
your passport (and some money!). For racing fans, the Musee de Circuit
de Spa-Francorchamps, located a mere six miles away from the track at
Stavelot Abbey, is packed full of racing vehicles, information on the history
of the track, as well as an original taxi from 1912. A trip to Spa and Belgium
without sampling some of its unique delicacies like a cone of frites and
waffles frosted with icing sugar and whipped cream is a trip wasted. In
the heart of Spa you will find L’Art de Vivre, widely regarded as the best
restaurant in Spa. Try it.

Esteban Ocon may have landed his F1® seat mid-season in 2016, following
the departure of Rio Haryanto, but the Frenchman arrived on the grid with Car Number

Born in Evreux, Normandy in 1996, the Frenchman predictably began his 17 September 1996
career with success in karting, before progressing to single-seaters in 2012.
In 2014, Ocon won the FIA F3 Euro championship in some style - his season
included nine wins, 21 podiums, 15 pole positions and seven fastest laps. He
also made his F1 Grand Prix weekend debut, with a Friday practice outing for
Lotus at the Abu Dhabi season finale.
A member of Mercedes’ junior driver programme, Ocon was ‘loaned’ to
Renault as their F1 reserve for the start of 2016. He also tested for Mercedes’
F1 squad and began his first full DTM campaign with the company.
During August’s F1 summer break of 2016, it was announced that he would
join the Mercedes-powered Manor team for the remainder of the year,
making his Grand Prix race debut at Belgium’s famous Spa-Francorchamps
circuit.
In 2017, Ocon was a model of consistency for Force India. Finishing in
the points in the first five races of the year, the highlight of which was
an impressive 5th place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix. A streak of 27
consecutive races without a DNF was brought to a halt following a clash with
fellow countryman Romain Grosjean.
Ocon finished his first full season in Formula 1 with 87 points and 8th in the
championship after an 8th place finish in the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP.

For Stoffel Vandoorne, it became a question of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ in his McLaren
quest for racing in Formula One. That ‘when’ occurred after he was called Car Number
up from his reserve role to deputize for the injured Fernando Alonso on the 2
McLaren team at Bahrain in 2016. Nationality

Vandoorne began his motorsport career at six years old in 1998 and earned Date of Birth
26 March 1992
his first race and championship victories in national karting series. He went on
to finish runner-u in the KF2 World Cup in 2009. During 2010, he went into
the F4 Eurocup series scoring six victories as he wrapped up the title with two
rounds in hand. He joined the McLaren Young Driver Program in 2013 after he
became the vice-champion with four wins in the 3.5 series in 2013.
Stoffel joined the McLaren team as their Formula One reserve for 2014 and
combined that with a maiden GP2 campaign with ART. He ultimately finished
second to Jolyon Palmer after four victories and 10 podiums. In a continuous
momentum, Vandoorne proved to be unstoppable in 2015 as he solidified
seven wins, 16 podiums, four pole positions, and five fastest laps as he
landed the series title in dominant fashion.
Vandoorne’s Formula One debut came in early 2016, when, deputizing for
Fernando Alonso, he scored a point in his one-off Sakhir outing. He combined
his reserve role with a season in Japan’s highly competitive Super Formula
finishing fourth overall after two wins. His biggest prize of the year, however,
was landing a full-time race drive with McLaren for 2017, stepping into the
sizeable shoes of Jenson Button.
As an F1 rookie, he scored 13 points to Spanish teammate Alonso’s 17 in
what was a tough final year of McLaren’s revived Honda partnership - and
duly retained his drive alongside the two-time champion for 2018.

Following a successful run in karting and Formula Ford in his native Australia, 27 August 1976
Webber knew that if he wanted to realise his dream of F1®, he had to leave
his home soil and move to Europe.
He competed in British Formula Ford, Formula 3, Sports-cars and then
Formula 3000 where his good results and pace landed him an F1 test drive
with Benetton.
Mark made his F1 debut with Minardi in 2002, where in a race full of
attrition, he managed to hang on in there and grabbed fifth place at the flag,
scoring the team’s first points in three years. His ability to push a car beyond
its limits opened the door for him to sign with the newly-rejuvenated Jaguar
Racing team and subsequently Williams F1. After moving to Red Bull Racing
in 2007, Mark took his first F1 win in the 2009 German Grand Prix, which he
described as the proudest moment of his career.
Throughout his 12 years in F1, Mark notched up 215 races, nine victories
– most notably becoming a double winner of both the prestigious Monaco
and British Grands Prix – and accumulated an impressive tally of 42 podium
finishes, 13 pole positions and 19 fastest laps. He also helped Red Bull
Racing to four consecutive Constructors’ World Championships.
