About SAFE South India 2019

UBM India, the organisers of IFSEC (South Asia’s largest security
expo and conference held annually in New Delhi since 2007)
have come up with the 5th edition of SAFE South India (https://
www.safeindiaexpo.com), the annual security exhibition cum
conference dedicated to the South Indian markets. Security
analysts are of the opinion that the rise in terrorist activities,
growing crime rates, data thefts, remote monitoring, growth
of public infrastructure, increasing IT spending, government
initiatives and increasing security spending are all boosting
markets for security systems and technologies in India.

SAFE South India showcases cutting edge products like CCTV &
video surveillance, biometrics & RFID, Integrated systems, access
control, cyber security, integrated systems, physical security,
perimeter protection, fire detection systems and intruder alarms.
The event hosts 4,000+ industry buyers and decision makers,
including key government officials, to review the latest products
and innovations, build business partnerships, conduct business
and make purchases.

As part of the endeavour to bring key stakeholders in the security
domain on one platform and to deliberate on the new-age
challenges to security of organizations and cities, SAFE South
India 2019 includes a two-day conference with the theme—Power
Insights into the World of Security—from 27th - 29th June, Hitex,
Hyderabad

On behalf of UBM India, I am delighted to welcome you to
the 5th edition of Security and Fire Expo (SAFE) South India in
                                Hyderabad.
Today, governments the world over are unanimous on the
need to provide a safe environment for their citizens. Several
organizations globally, and in India, are realizing the vital
need to refurbish their security strategy, and discuss cutting-
edge technologies to monitor as well as surmount avoidable
accidents. This has opened up a huge market for leading players
in the security industry, with global revenue spends on security
hardware, software and services projected to reach $103 billion
this year. Similarly, the demand for video surveillance in India has grown in corporate houses
as much as among the RWAs and security agencies. Security systems like Access Control,
Biometrics, Alarm Systems, Transport Security, Home Automation, Perimeter Security and Metal
Detectors are also constantly being upgraded and have immense potential to secure lives.
The expenditure on surveillance and security has also been increasing in the Indian market in
recent years. The government has taken various initiatives to increase security services revenue
which will benefit the citizens as well as the security and surveillance services industry. After
all, a modern civil city should be able to showcase seamlessly safe, smart, energy efficient and
technologically advanced features.
SAFE South India provides an exclusive platform for the leading players in the security
industry to tap into the growing South Indian market by forging joint ventures, partnerships/
associations, sourcing, dealerships and networks. It will get the show closer to the end users by
rotating it across the several key Indian cities that are situated in south India.
This year too, we are glad to host leading companies from across the industry, showcasing latest
offerings, providing you access to further strengthen your partnerships with businesses in the
region.
The expo is featuring a two day conference on Power Insights into the World of Security
comprising in-depth speaker sessions and panel discussions on trending subjects in the
security industry.
We sincerely thank our Knowledge partners - Mitkat Advisory, Indian Institute of Drones, Centre
for Human Security Studies and supporting associations - Society for Cyberabad Security
Council, GACS, OWASP Hyderabad Chapter (for IoT & Information Security), ASIS Bengaluru

MESSAGE

Geo-political and security features of the Indian sub-continent have
always been complex and dynamic. The recent terror attack in Sri
Lanka is a stark reminder of the fragility of the security dynamics
endemic in the region. The need for building a new architecture and
a paradigm shift in the approach to security is paramount and urgent.
In this scenario, IFSEC has been playing a pivotal role in bringing to
the fore, the inherent challenges and fault-lines in the country and
the region, which merit attention. The showcase for South India, is
therefore very timely, and a laudable initiative, that would go a long
way, in bringing together industry professionals and companies,
who have an abiding interest in homeland security, emerging safety,
security, surveillance, intelligence and forensic technologies.
MitKat has been closely associated with IFSEC as Knowledge Partner
in India and abroad; we have always found IFSEC events to be very
professionally conducted, stimulating and highly rewarding. We wish
IFSEC much success in the upcoming SAFE South India 2019.

“I take great pride in introducing SAFE SOUTH INDIA 2019 - one of
the largest security expo in South Asia.
India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world
and attracts big businesses from across the Globe. It offers
opportunities to Indian and Global players to sell their wares and
establish themselves in the emerging security and risk domain.
Security is the biggest enabler for mankind and a key essential for
protection of assets and human resource so crucial for business
to flourish given the diverse geographical, political and social
landscape.
The American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) Bangalore
chapter is a membership organisation of security professionals for
development and peer to peer collaboration. Safety and security
needs keep us away from harm’s way. These include safe and
secure workplaces, health and safe environment, effective law
and order, risk free personal and professional travel and coping
up with natural and unnatural disasters. Advent of technology
like RPAs, AIs, Cognitive computing, Big data have redefined role
of CSOs and CROs in the present context. Business enablement,
cost optimisations, driving efficiency and all-encompassing
accountability is the need of the hour.
Terrorism, radical leanings, regional aspirations, protectionist
policies, political backlashes have lone wolves, cyber fraud
exponents sensationalising crime with low cost and high impact
approach. Unseen, unrecognisable insider threats loom large.
Potent scenarios ready to explode and play havoc with our
daily routine are a reality that every security organisation is fully
cognizant. Security professionals lean heavily on the vital cogs
of OEMs under one umbrella like the SAFE SOUTH INDIA 2019 to
weigh and consider potential counter measures to address their
concerns of business continuity, disaster management and the
very existence of business. An effective approach to collaborate,
mitigate risks and help growth with products that are cost effective
and futuristic yet easily available.“

                    business continuity.
                • Future would belong to smarter Security & Continuity Leaders with
sound understanding of business and technology, overseeing less
human-dependent, more tech-enabled, process centric and cost-
conscious integrated security deployments, probably as part of

Bangladesh. Managing such diverse land borders is
a complex task and these land borders run through

                   • The western border in particular is an eternal hotbed
                        with terrorists, drug-traffickers, smugglers and
human trafficking gangs always on the lookout for
opportunities to sneak past the BSF and enter our
                        territory.
                   • Unmanned aerial vehicles and drones can play an
effective role in keeping an eye on such intruders and
also help reduce casualties among our security forces
                        patrolling the borders.

14.30 -15.00 Session 5: Using AI to make Security Systems Smarter,
Intelligent, Efficient & self-learning (Speaker Session)
               Discussion Points
               • AI, ML, IoT, Cloud, Mobile, Blockchain and other
                   contemporary technologies are potentially disruptive
and game changing. Deep Learning systems and
                   advanced analytics strengthen surveillance and
make real time extraction and sharing of actionable
intelligence easy. They assist intel, security and law
                   enforcement agencies to recognise suspicious
activities without much human supervision, and to act
                   pre-emptively and decisively.
               • The benefits of Deep learning for face recognition and
image classification makes it extremely valuable in the
field of security as it allows for easy identification of
suspects, vehicle detection, and behaviour analysis.
               • The panel will examine the technologies that would
redefine surveillance, security (including those of
devices, networks and applications), fire, transport
and life safety, incident and emergency management
landscape. The discussion would include, but not be
limited to AI, ML, AA, IoT, Cloud, internet, Social Media,
                   Blockchain etc.
