GENERAL LIGHTING
What is general lighting
and why do we need it?
This being the most basic type of lighting in our spaces, it is
also the most popular and widely used. Often, it is designed
with the intent of creating sufficiently high ambient lighting,
good enough to carry out tasks requiring high illumination
levels – to create the substitute of natural lighting within an
enclosed indoor space.
The key of good general lighting is to provide a sufficiently
high lighting level suitable for most tasks, with a luminaire
arrangement that blends in well with modern architectural
ceiling systems. Until recently, this was largely provided by
fluorescent lamp systems, which are now replaced with LED
solutions.
Which parameters have
to be carefully evaluated?
• High brightness and uniformity
• Vertical and horizontal light distribution
(wide beam)
• Glare free (mostly to avoid lateral glare)

XOOLUM™ White IP40
XOOLUM™ is offering an enormous modularity and user-friendliness combined
with a lumen output of up to 2,630 lm/m. It's compact form factor of just
25.4 mm x 31 mm allows a smooth integration onto the ceiling.
Its variety of cover ranges from no cover to clear over to opal or even opal
high options. An outdoor version with opal polyurethane encapsulation in
combination with eight CCTs offer endless possibilities of general illumination.
IP40 CRI up to 97.
IP67 CRI up to 95.

Retail, offices, institutional buildings
XOOMINAIRE™ White IP40
The XOOMINAIRE™ is highly recommended for applications such as office
lighting. With its deep profile and larger than industry standard profiles, it is
able to offer generous and high light outputs, along with 7 optics options like
a deep light distribution (batwing).
The large profile allows pleasant illumination at moderate luminance and
directional light with low UGR (< 16) which is achieved with precision crafted
aluminium reflector optics.
CRI 85. Available as a constant current option for retrofit solution to T5/T8
lamps. Comes with integrated control gear.

XOOLIGHT™ White IP40
With a robust 42 mm x 62 mm dimension, the XOOLIGHT™ allows the use of 4
different covers dedicated for various types of lighting application. Its main
focus on general lighting creates high and outstanding lighting distributions.
It is suitable for a variety of mounting options – recessed, surface mounted
as well as pendant. Its narrow end caps allow for infinite lines of light without
noticeable gap. These flexibilities lead to creative lighting solutions using
the same family of luminaires. The XOOLIGHT™ range is also available in IP67
using a high quality opal polyurethane encapsulation, making the range
highly versatile in its application.

1st method of using general lighting –
as a replacement to T5/T8 lamps for task lighting
A pure replacement of previous generation T5/T8 lamps by much more efficient
and long lasting LED lamps forms the foundation of general lighting. Key features
that mimic the photometric and optical characteristics of fluorescent lamps are
minimizing direct glare and maintaining a very wide distribution. Shallow depths
of installation make less ceiling conflicts with HVAC systems and more pleasing
profiles create a modern aesthetic. Continuous edge to edge runs are also
possible.

2nd method of using general lighting –
complementing ceiling design and modern aesthetic
In this lighting method, general lighting is of two types – continuous row of light
from the ceiling profile and an end to end (custom length) light solution. Both
are hugely complementing the architectural design intent, and self-sufficient to
illuminate the space without any additional lighting.

linear low glare surface mount
Similar to the recessed version, the surface mount linear luminaires provide
ideal lighting solutions for spaces where it is not possible to recess a fixture into
a false ceiling. There are still the same benefits of a recessed light such as excel-
lent anti-glare, light control and the NanoRay technology.

2nd method of using general lighting –
pendant lighting solutions
What was previously done with T5/T8 equivalent LED pendants, is now possible
with a fraction of the size with products such as LYRA 36 NANO. Slim circular
profiles with low glare and NanoRay technology provide a discreet lighting
arrangement and is ideal for spaces that have open ceilings, or high ceilings that
require suspension solutions.
