2.1 Series Technical Regulations
Summary of the eligible groups/classes
The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America is an official Porsche AG one-make Series with multiple group/class
classifications.

Only cars of the type/model:
 • Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, type 991 II (a special series produced by Porsche AG), of the model year 2017- 2020
 • Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, type 991 I (a special series produced by Porsche AG), of the model year 2014- 2016
 • Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport (Trackday, Competition or MR) of the model year 2019 – 2021
 • Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of the model year 2016

which fully comply with these Regulations as well as the appropriate Porsche Technical Manual are eligible to
participate.

A change of cars must be applied for in writing by the competitor and must be approved in written form by the
Stewards prior to the change. The decision to approve a change of car is at the absolute discretion of the Stewards.
Where the Stewards accept such an application, that acceptance may be given subject to specific conditions. Where
the replacement of a car is accepted after Qualifying it will normally be on condition that the car starts the race from
the back of the grid.

Cars submitted by Porsche AG or USAC may deviate from the Technical Regulations for development purposes. The
deviations shall be referred for approval by USAC before the car is used and shall not involve any safety-critical
modifications.

2.2 Principles of the Technical Regulations
In accordance with:
☒ Art. 251 and 277 (Group EII-SH) of Appendix J (FIA ISC)
☒ These Technical Regulations
☒ Technical manuals of the eligible cars
☒ Technical information of Porsche Motorsport North America
☒ Software information of Porsche Motorsport North America
☒ Spare parts catalogues of the eligible cars

Should there be any discrepancy between the provisions of these Technical Regulations and any relevant Technical
Manual, Technical Information, Software Information or Parts Catalogue, then these Technical Regulations will take
precedence.

Any requirements specified in a Technical Manual, Technical Information, Software Information and/or Parts
Catalogue may be updated by Porsche Motorsport North America. For Software Information, only the latest version
is valid but Setups (based on the latest version) may be varied within the parameters allowed by Porsche Motorsport
North America. Any requirements may be varied for any specific event by USAC at that event.

2.4 General/preamble
Everything that is not expressly permitted in these Regulations is prohibited. Permitted modifications must not result
in any illegal modifications or infringements of the Regulations.

All cars must be original Porsche Cup cars as delivered by Porsche and the VIN number must reflect this. No
aftermarket conversions to cars are permitted.

Except where specifically permitted herein, there are no changes permitted to the cars from their original
specifications. There must be no welding, cutting, machining, drilling, acid dipping or other chemical treatment of the
car to change its mechanical properties. Any change to the car that is not specifically permitted in the Technical
Regulations is expressly prohibited.

Except where specified, all parts must be stock, original equipment (OE) and in the original location as delivered. This
means that they must be the Porsche designated parts that were as the car was delivered and be listed in the Porsche
parts catalog for that car for that model year. For example: Water and oil radiators, ducting, bodywork, suspension
components, wheels, driveline, engine, and components etc.

Transposition of parts from one model year to another is not permitted except as specified herein. Modification of any
supplied part, modifying their mounting or mounting position is prohibited.

It is permitted to carry out work on a vehicle which is part of the regular maintenance of the vehicle or which serves
for the replacement of parts that have become defective as a result of wear or accident.
The utilization of components manufactured by Porsche for other vehicles is prohibited. Standard fasteners such as
nuts, bolts, washers, circlips, spring washers, split pins, etc., may only be replaced with original Porsche spare OE
parts. In case of threaded fasteners, the type, size, and pitch of the thread must not be changed.

If, in the sole judgment of the Technical Director, the cars do not meet the spirit or intent of these Technical
Regulations, he may order them to be corrected to be in compliance prior to any further participation in the Event.

Any waiver of any technical requirement by the Technical Director shall specify the length of time the waiver shall be
in force and shall not constitute an ongoing waiver, or a waiver for any other cars for the same issue.

Limits of Adjustments: Except as may be specified or permitted in these Technical Regulations, the limit of any
adjustment on the car shall be the range of adjustment permitted by the stock parts using the stock fixation points

 Page 4 of 37 02.01.21 v 03.0
General Regulations for Series run on Circuits / Automobile Sport
as supplied by the manufacturer. No additional adjustment points within or outside the range may be created by
altering parts from their as manufactured configuration.

It is the responsibility of the participant to read, understand and comply with The Technical Regulations. Failure to do
so will not provide any relief from The Technical Regulations. Competitors are encouraged to enroll in the PMRSI
bulletin program by contacting PMNA. The most current PMNA technical manual and parts catalogue (as found on
PMRSI) are considered an appendix to this rulebook, unless otherwise stated. Part numbers and best practices that
pertain to a specific vehicle model, type and year will be referenced as part of the Technical Inspection process.

30. APPENDIX 12 – Tires

General
USAC reserves the right to regulate tires and the eligibility of certain tires and tire manufacturers and may do so at
any point in the season and may modify or waive any part of this regulation at its sole discretion. Decisions of USAC
are Conclusive.

All tires used in a Session must be specifically designed for automobile racing and must be approved by their
manufacturer for such use.

Tire Manufacturers
The only permitted tire manufacturer is Yokohama.

Tire Specifications
Dry-Type front tires must bear a sidewall product code of 2782 per the below photograph.

Dry-Type rear tires must bear a sidewall product code of 2736 per the below photograph.

 Page 33 of 37 02.01.21 v 03.0
Tires must be declared by their manufacturer to be either Wet tires or Dry tires. A Car must run either an all-Wet Tire
Set or an all-Dry Tire Set at any given time.

All tires must be clearly identified and marked with the following information:

 • The tire manufacturer’s brand, which must be visible and on the side of the tire intended to face the outside
 of the Car.
 • Identification unique to each tire type with regards to construction, tread, rubber compound and tire size. The
tire manufacturer is not required to disclose the meaning of this identification regarding construction, tread,
and rubber compound or tire size.
 • These identification marks must be manufactured in a manner that they remain visible at all stages of the
tire’s life in normal racing use. These do not need to be visible while the tire is in use and may be on the bead
or on the inside of the tire.

Wet Tires.
Wet tires must conform to the following minimum standards:

 • Tread depth, as manufactured and supplied to Competitors, must be a minimum of 2.5 mm in any void area
 of the tire.
 • All wet tires must, when new, have a maximum contact area of 70% of the total area.

Marking.

It is prohibited to change, deface or forge the Official’s tire markings, embedded RFID chips or the tire manufacturer’s
markings. Any such attempt shall result in withdrawal of the tires by USAC from the Event and imposition of any other
penalty deemed appropriate.

Tracking of tires by RFID or bar code may be utilized in place of tire stamping or marking.

Tire Usage

Entrants must not transfer tires marked for use by one Car to another Car, even if the same Entrant has entered the
other Car.

Any tire stamped by USAC and delivered to the Entrant is charged against the Car allocation. Any tire returned and
that is new and determined to be unused by the Officials is credited to the Car’s tire allocation. Permission to exchange
tires is at the USAC Official’s discretion.

Used tires damaged during the Event are not replaced except that at the sole discretion of the USAC, they may permit
up to one (1) tire per Event per Car to be replaced exclusively in case of adverse circumstances, however this tire is
considered part of the Car’s original allocation. Accident or contact with another Competitor, unintentional or
otherwise, whether caused by the Competitor or not, does not necessarily warrant replacement of tires. Only tires

 Page 34 of 37 02.01.21 v 03.0
identified by the Officials as having been damaged are replaceable. Any replacement tire must be an exact
replacement (i.e., position, and type and specification).

Tires must only be purchased from the USAC authorized supplier at the Event but may be pre- ordered. The specified
(spec) tire of the Series is the “Yokohama ADVAN ENV-R2”. Tires for the Series must only be obtained from the
authorized distributor: TrackSide Performance LLC.

Tires used during any Official Session must be the spec tire of the Series.

Prohibited: Tire modification; Use of a traction compound or any substance that might alter the physical properties of
a tire as supplied by its manufacturer; “Grooving” Dry tires to create intermediate style Wet tires; Tire warmers or any
other means of artificially warming tires; Any method of regulating tire pressure on-track. Any action, other than
ordinary on-track use, designed to alter the tires as supplied. Anything not specifically permitted is prohibited.

Permitted: Cleaning rubber “pick-up” from used tires via heat gun and scraper.

Operational Requirements: Tire manufacturers may issue bulletins stating the following operational requirements:
 • Minimum cold and/or hot pressures.
 • Minimum and/or maximum front and/or rear camber settings.
 • Noncompliance may result in penalties.

Access: Officials of USAC and the tire manufacturer shall always have free access into the Competitor’s pit and
Paddock space to validate the operational requirements including tire pressures and alignment settings.

Location: If marked by their manufacturer for a specific position on the Car, tires must only be used in those position(s)
for which they are marked (such as LF, RF, LR, RR).
