Scouting provides young people leadership, learning, service, and adventure – skills that will be both relevant and
impactful throughout their lives. The true cost of Scouting goes beyond the visible expenses you see such as books,
uniforms, Scouts’ Life, equipment, registration, and meeting fees. The majority of Scouting’s expenses are unseen.
Friends of Scouting supports the sustainable operations of delivering this timeless program! Your Friends of Scouting
donation ensures that we can support more than 37,000 youth and over 13,000 volunteer leaders that we serve in
Michigan.

FOR MICHIGAN SCOUTING’S FUTURE
The best response to our changing financial picture is to share the opportunity with our community of donors to
build a solid financial foundation for the future of Scouting. Our 2022 Campaign launches a 5-year plan to solidify
and grow sustainable support for Scouting’s future. This strategy will protect the delivery and growth of Scouting
programs today, when our children here in Michigan need us the most, while growing future endowed earnings to
protect Scouting well into the future.
The Three Pillars of our 2022 Campaign:
• Seeking an annual campaign pledge now for each of the next 5 years, and promoting the Eagle Patrol and Second
Century Society Levels of Giving
• Seeking a pledge to our permanently restricted endowment fund, and promoting the James E West Fellowship
