Since its inception, Empty Plate has raised over $4.5 million,
providing well over 13.5 million meals to our neighbors in mid-Michigan.

About Empty Plate
In 2007, Mimi Heberlein had an idea for a new way to give back to the community. Taking
action on various fundraising event ideas and models, she created an event which would set
the standard for philanthropy in mid-Michigan.

This year we are excited to welcome guests back to a new venue, The Huntington Club at
Spartan Stadium, to gather in a single night of charitable fun. While there have been some
changes to this year’s event from previous, guests can still expect to enjoy:

  • Casual strolling dinner and reception
  • Auction packages featuring unique items and experiences
  • Presentation of the annual Founders’ Award
  • A commemorative “empty plate”, hand-decorated by local school children
  • A chance to socialize with friends and community leaders
  • An opportunity to help make a difference for thousands of our neighbors

Support Greater Lansing Food Bank’s 14th annual Empty Plate Strolling Dinner & Auction to
help make a true impact on hunger in our community. We are thrilled to bring back the Empty
Plate event after two years and look forward to seeing our friends in the community once
again!

The mission of Greater Lansing Food Bank
(GLFB) is to partner to alleviate hunger one
meal at a time and to create a future where
everyone has access to nourishing food. We
achieve this mission by providing nutritious
food through specialized services and our
network of more than 140 member
agencies across the mid-Michigan counties
of Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham,
Isabella and Shiawassee. Prior to and
during this pandemic, GLFB has innovated
our programming to combat hunger
wherever it exists. We believe it is a human
right to have access to healthy, nutrient-rich
meals and, as the only organization of our
kind servicing mid-Michigan, we are
uniquely prepared to not only fight hunger,
but end it for thousands of our neighbors.

As a member of Feeding America and the
Food Bank Council of Michigan, GLFB prides
itself in being a leader among peers by In 2021, GLFB distributed over 9.6 million

Feeding Hope
Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) increased distribution from 5 million lbs in 2012 to 11.5
million lbs in 2021. Despite this, we know many families, children, and seniors still go
hungry. The ongoing pandemic has laid bare how fragile the food safety net is, but GLFB is
prepared to meet everyone in need and reach communities hit especially hard by Covid-19.
This growth is not possible without the help of those in the community who share in our
vision of a future where the choice between paying a bill and filling a plate does not have to
be so difficult.

The Road Ahead
Greater Lansing Food Bank is committed to
moving forward with a focus on reaching the
full range of residents in our diverse
communities - combining new methods of
outreach and distribution with more
traditional methods. This approach seeks to
reach our community members where they
are, in settings where they are comfortable
and most likely to access other services,
with nutritious food that supports their
health and well-being.
