Dear Team Manager
Hawke’s Bay Hockey Association is excited at the prospect of hosting teams at this year’s
Secondary Schools Tournament in Hawke’s Bay.
Please find enclosed a comprehensive newsletter. This will provide you with the bulk of
information you need for this tournament.
Hockey New Zealand will be in touch via email in regards to the Altius system and you will be
given a login etc for this pre tournament. Your team registration is to be completed online
by the 14th August 2020. Please remember you must bring your cover sheet and signed
registration sheet to the Manager’s meeting. All players have to sign by their name on the
sheet you print off from Altius.
Just to note Tournament Programmes will be online via Hawke’s Bay Hockey’s website as well
as the Hockey New Zealand website closer to the tournament. There will no longer be any
hard copies for teams.

Park Island Hockey Stadium

The Tournament HQ is being held at the
Hawke’s Bay Hockey Stadium which has two
turfs, Umpires Room and a large Pavilion with
Café.
The Tournament Control Office is situated
upstairs in the Pavilion on the Mezzanine floor.

Games will be played daily at the Sports Park on the Unison Hockey turf. The Regional Sports Parks is located 15 minutes from Park
Island Hockey turf – see driving directions below:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Tournament Officials
Hayden Campbell will Tournament Director, Kit Rutherford Assistant Tournament Director
and Umpire Manger alongside Alan Blewett Umpire Manager. I will be assisted in the
Tournament Administration at Mitre 10 Park by Ashleigh Webb.
Umpires/Managers Meetings
Umpires and Managers Meetings will be held in the Pavilion at the Stadium on Sunday, 30th
August 2020. The times are still be confirmed but are normally, Umpires at 5.00 pm and
Managers at 4.00 pm.
Very important – Managers MUST bring:
• Primary playing strip (shirt, shorts, socks)
• Alternative playing strip (shirt, shorts, socks)
• Team Registration Form signed by each player with the Hockey New Zealand cover
sheet (fully completed and must be signed by School Principal).
Café/Coffee
A full café will be operating throughout the week inside the Pavilion with food vendors
external as well, offering a variety of healthy snacks and hot food.
Car Park
Buses and mini vans can use the car park closest to the entrance to the turf at Park Island and
for parents/supporters there is car park next to Turf 2. This extra parking can also be used for
over-flow from the main car-park. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles.
Unison parking is clearly marked.
Closing Ceremony/Prizegiving
Prizegiving will take place approximately 20 minutes after the last game has finished. Teams
are requested to be dressed in their team tracksuit. If the day is dry, prizegiving will take
place on Turf 1. If wet, it will take place inside the Pavilion.
Contact Details
It is important that Tournament Control is able to contact a member of your team’s
management (ie Manager / Coach / Assistant) at any time. I have included a link to a form
and ask if you could please type in all information for us..
Hockey Shop
Just Hockey have a resident Pro Shop here at Park Island and are pleased to be able to offer
a huge range of hockey gear as part of Just Hockey franchise.
Match Balls
Every team needs to supply their own Match balls. As we are playing over two venues please
ensure you bring your ball – named to each game and hand to the Umpire prior to the game
starting and then collect after you game.
Match Sheets
Match Sheets will be used for this tournament which means that each day you will be required
to complete a Match Line-up sheet prior to the game. Further details regarding this will be
confirmed at the Managers meeting.

Mouthguards
A reminder that it is compulsory for all players to wear a mouthguard. Our Café does stock
mouthguards if anyone is to require one over the tournament.
Team Registration
You will be required to register your team with Hockey NZ via the Altius Management
Programme by the 14th August 2020. If you have any problems entering information once
you have been issued with your username/password feel free to contact me.
Tournament Draw
TBC when this will be available. As soon as I have it I will email.
Tournament Results
Results will be posted on our Tournament Noticeboards in the Pavilion at Park Island regularly
throughout the day. The results will also be posted on the Altius Hockey NZ programme after
each game which is great for those that can’t be at the Tournament.
Tournament Rules
These are available on the Hockey NZ website. You should bring your own copy and be well-
versed on these prior to Tournament. You should also be familiar with the Hockey NZ Code
of Conduct, Anti Doping Code, Head injury and Smokefree policies. (All are contained on the
Important Downloads page from the “Inside the Game” tab on Hockey NZ website.
Turf Practice
The turfs at Park Island will be available for team practices on Sunday, 30th August 2020 –The
cost of this is $57.50 (GST exclusive) per half turf per hour. If you would like to make a turf
booking, please indicate via the Google form link attached to the email – turf-time will be
allocated on a first in, first served basis. We will invoice your School for this. This will be the
only charge invoiced direct from Hawke’s Bay Hockey.
Turf Fees – Tournament
Hockey New Zealand will be invoicing you direct for the this charge.
Venue
The Tournament is being held at the Hawke’s Bay Hockey Stadium in Napier and the Unison
Hockey Stadium in Hastings – Mitre 10 Sports Park. Both venues have water surface turfs,
changing rooms with hot showers, and Umpires Rooms. Park Island Hockey turf have a
Pavilion with Café and vendors on site. Unison Stadium has a café on site.
The Tournament Control Office will be situated upstairs in the Pavilion at Park Island.
Medical on Site
Pro Med
Hockey New Zealand have engaged Pro Med as the medics on site and they will be at both
venues.

• Teams are responsible for their own basic First Aid kit (including chiller pads/ice etc.).
Emergency ice will be available in chilly-bins in the dug-out.
• Pro Med will be in attendance at this Tournament.

Please see below the tournament merchandise available to purchase for the event. We have
an online shop via Score Sportswear where a team or individual can order online or if you are
ordering by bulk I have attached the order form for this.
Key Information & Timelines
• Tournament merchandise will be available via online orders
• For team orders of more than 10 garments in total, please complete the manual order
form and return to info@scoresportswear.co.nz
• All bulk orders must be paid in full prior to the close off date
• All orders will be collated in bulk and sent to customers refer to dates below:
Order window 1: Orders received PRIOR TO 4pm, on 12 August will be delivered PRE-
TOURNAMENT
Order window 2: Orders received AFTER 4pm, on 4 September will be delivered POST- T
OURNAMENT
• STRICTLY NO ORDERS ACCEPTED AFTER THE CLOSE DATE. This is to allow time for
production for a bulk order including; ordering product, applications (embroidery
and print) along with delivery
• There will be a courier fee charged to each customer of $5.00 for each online
order and
$10.00 for BULK orders
• All orders will be sent DIRECTLY to the customer’s nominated address. There is no
option to pick up merchandise
