                                             HELLO EUROPE.
Fjords, volcanoes, islands and beaches - New Zealand has been a popular long-distance adventure destination for
Europeans for many years. At the same time and as part of their culture, Kiwi‘s inherently are long-distance travelers.
They travel farther more often than just about any other culture on the globe. At age 18 as a right-of-passage, you
purchase a Kathmandu pack and begin a gap year to travel the world. For the Kiwi’s the adventure begins, when they
pack their bag. This culture is directly reflected in Kathmandu.

Since 1987 Kathmandu, New Zealand‘s and Australia‘s most successful outdoor brand, has been developing apparel and
equipment for adventure travelers from all over the world. All Kathmandu products are designed to enjoy the journey,
no matter how harsh the elements or where the destination. For Kathmandu’ 30th birthday a video has been created
explaining the brand’s DNA.

Original, sustainable, engineered and adaptive are the four principles of all gear that is developed by Kathmandu. Being
from an island nation where resources are precious, sustainability has always been a key element of Kathmandu’s DNA.
The result is a robust and deep commitment to the environment and people. Kathmandu is ranked #2 globally by the
Textile Exchange for preferred materials and received an ‘A’ rating for the third year in a row by the Ethical Fashion

In 2019, New Zealand brand Kathmandu is launching its first ever global brand campaign World Ready across Australia,
New Zealand, the US and Europe. The new campaign underlines the brand values and initiatives of Kathmandu. The brand
successfully uses the spirit of adventure of the Kiwis and challenges Europeans to discover the world.

John Sette, Kathmandu Group Marketing Manager explains: “We come from New Zealand, a country with thousands of
opportunities to go out and explore. There are so many great options to seek and explore what nature has to offer and learn
about our planet and its’ people. We believe travel and adventure is the ultimate life experience. With product engineering
and expert advice, we aim to give people the confidence to discover the world.“

He describes what Kathmandu expects from Europeans: “Don’t get me wrong, we don’t want every European adventurer
to come to New Zealand. However, we want them to travel – consciously and with an open mind and hunger to learn. With
Kathmandu products we give travelers the confidence to discover the world.”

The idea behind “World Ready” is clear: When you travel, you learn. “World Ready” means motivating potential adventurers
to go explore, travel and learn, with Kathmandu products giving them the confidence to discover the world.

                                              Being „World Ready“ means…
                                        … being prepared for the next adventure.
                            … a confidence to take on any destination in any weather condition.
                              … travelling with curiosity, an open mind and hunger to learn.

The worldwide brand campaign “World Ready” will be executed across the globe, starting 2019. There will be several
initiatives discussing the benefits and harms of travelling with it. In February 2019 a research study will be published outlining
the impacts of over tourism and how adventure travel and Kathmandu can help. Also, a content series has been created in
partnership with National Geographic called “Eco Traveler” highlighting the benefits of travelling responsibly, airing across
the globe from March. Starting spring 2019 Kathmandu is partnering up with Google and GoPro globally. A consumer
competition will be launched to Google Map five unmapped treks around the world. All in all the “World Ready” campaign is
supposed to create awareness and connection with conscious, meaningful travelers through different executions in different
communication channels around the world.
