DECREE LIFTING DISPENSATION
In March of 2020, all Catholics of the Diocese of Dallas were dispensed from the
obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and other Holy Days of Obligation (canon 1247) as a
result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
After consultation with the priests of the Diocese of Dallas, and in light of the greatly
improved conditions of the Diocese and the nation, I intend for this dispensation to be lifted
on Sunday, August 15, 2021, the Feast of the Assumption.
Therefore, I hereby revoke the March, 2020 dispensation from the obligation to
attend Mass on Sundays and other Holy Days of Obligation, effective Sunday, August
15, 2021.
The faithful are reminded that for a just cause the pastor of a parish can dispense in
individual cases the faithful of the parish and anyone actually present in the parish from
the obligation to attend Mass or may commute the obligation to some other pious work
(canon 1245).
The faithful should also remember that all who are incapable of attending Mass are
excused from the obligation, as we can never be required to do the impossible.
All other requirements of the Decree of April 21, 2021 remain in effect.

DECRETO PARA RETIRAR LA DISPENSA
En marzo del 2020, todos los Católicos de la Diócesis de Dallas fueron dispensados
de la obligación de asistir a Misa los domingos y otras fiestas de precepto (canon 1247)
como resultado de la pandemia del COVID-19.
Luego de consultar con los sacerdotes de la Diócesis de Dallas, y en vista de que las
condiciones en la Diócesis y en la nación han mejorado considerablemente, he decidido
retirar esta dispensa el domingo 15 de agosto de 2021, día de la festividad de la Asunción.
Por lo tanto, por la presente revoco la dispensa de la obligación de asistir a Misa
los domingos y otros días de precepto emitida en marzo de 2020, siendo efectiva esta
revocación el domingo 15 de agosto de 2021.
Los fieles deben recordar, que con causa justa el párroco puede en casos particulares
dispensar a los fieles de la parroquia y cualquier persona presente en la parroquia de la
obligación de asistir a Misa o puede conmutarla por otras obras piadosas (canon 1245).
Los fieles deben recordar también que todos los que son incapaces de asistir a Misa
están excusados de la obligación, ya que nunca podemos ser requeridos a hacer lo que es
imposible.
Todos los otros requerimientos del Decreto del 21 de abril de 2021 continúan en efecto.

WHAT IS MY IMPACT WHEN I GIVE TO THE TOURNAMENT?
Funds raised from The Bishop's Invitational support families with the greatest financial need within the
Diocese. The tournament was founded to make Catholic education a reality for anyone regardless of
their financial situation. Funds are distributed as direct, need-based tuition assistance.
I DO NOT GOLF, HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
You do not need to be a golfer to participate! We are in need of donors at all levels to sponsor a student's
education. We are also actively seeking event sponsors and underwriters.
HOW MANY STUDENTS NEED SUPPORT?
The Catholic Schools Office currently estimates more than 1,500 students are in need of financial
assistance. The Bishop's Invitational Golf Tournament in partnership with The HALO Initiative and
DEET (Diocesan Education Endowment Trust) currently support approximately 800 students.
