Home Learning Opportunities
Class: Year 4
Learning activities set for the Easter holiday beginning Monday 6 April 2020
Learning activities to be completed by Monday 20 April
                               Believe to Achieve
Literacy Learning Opportunities: Look at the Stranded Literacy picture prompts. Can you
answer the questions or draw the scene or write a story about what happens next?
Reading: Make sure you read the books allocated to you in Reading Eggs and Scholastic (Well
done those that have already done so). If you have completed your books choose one of your
 choice.
Spelling: Use this time to make sure you know your spellings. Can you create your own word
search for some of them? I have attached the spellings which you need to know in Year 4.

Maths Learning Opportunity: try out the IXL website if you haven’t already www.ixl.com
Area: Can you crack the code by answering the questions about area?
Birdwatchers: (see below) You could make a tally chart for the different birds you see over a
week; then use the data to make a bar chart. Which is the most common bird?

Creative Learning Opportunity: Jenny McLachlan is the author of our class text Land of Roar.
She has created a simple activity about designing your own island. I have created a sheet you
can follow if you want to do this activity. The activity is also on You Tube. (See sheet).
Birdwatchers: (see below) You could make your own binoculars to help you spot birds. I have
included a design sheet for you to follow.

Scientists! Join the Osborne Birdwatchers’ Club!

Birds are busy in the spring: finding mates, building nests, laying eggs and feeding their chicks.
This year, there’s good news: as there are not so many noisy vehicles driving around, we can
hear the birds more clearly. Some quiet birds which avoid noisy areas are out and about much
more in Erdington. Remember to stay safe and stay away from other people!
Useful links for birdwatchers:

ICT: Please be careful with your internet safety. Go onto www.thinkuknow.co.uk and play the
videos and games for the 8-10 year old children. Stay safe online!

PE: Keep fit with Joe Wickes every morning or choose your own Just Dance songs to get you
active first thing in the morning. Don’t forget you can also find Super Movers on BBC Teach.

Remember - Have a Lovely Holiday. Things are strange at the moment but
your teachers are thinking of you. Stay safe and eat lots of chocolate!
