What are
SATs?
The national
curriculum tests
(often referred to as
SATs) are designed to
assess pupils’
knowledge and
understanding of
specific elements of
the key stage 2
programmes of study.
Schools must
administer the tests
in May each year,
according to a
statutory timetable. Why do we have them?
✓ Provides you with information about
where your child is (academically).
✓ Gives you a comparison to see how much
they have progressed throughout their
time at Acklam Whin Primary School.
✓ Informs secondary schools of academic
ability.
✓ Provides a method for holding schools
accountableAchievement
Most children are
expected to achieve a
scale of 100-national
standard
Some children may
achieve a scale score
of below 100.This does
not mean they have
‘failed’. For some
children this will be a
tremendous
achievement.
Some children will
score above the scale
of 100-exceeding
national standard.Time Table for The Week
